i do wish the emotional climax of the song hit as hard as the live version but honestly the production is miles better here and fits it so well.
as a pioneering, genre-defining album, it, to no surprise, holds up really well and has an amazing atmosphere to it that not many could ever even replicate
so jazzy and fun, Naomi has a wonderful voice and rhythm in her cadence that gives it a lot of soul!
insane album from beginning to end jesus
genuinely an actual AOTY contender
honestly, this album still sticks with me way more than sabrina’s recent album. there really is just something about it that feels way more moving and emotional. the production in this album was reallllyy good, her song structuring was really on point too, i’ve always loved how she incorporates her talk-singing in skinny dipping, it makes for a perfect intro that blends perfectly with her vocals and made it feel like even more of an entry into her thoughts, or perhaps her emails. ... read more
its good, the message in the album is portrayed very well with the haunting instrumentals, especially in the second half of the album. its not particularly the kind of music i listen to, but for what its worth, it does a good job in evoking the horrors of the palestinian genocide going on and it genuinely made me emotional by the end of it. free palestine always, from the river to the sea.🇵🇸
honestly, i don't care about the story as much as some people do, but it's still a really interesting concept album with some great moments. there are songs from it that have been stuck in my head since it came out, and the instrumentals are a big step up from their previous album, in a good way. im glad they settled for a better more cohesive album structure, unlike MADLO, which might have had a few interesting thoughts, but never really went anywhere with it. although what really ... read more
genuinely i dont think they could ever make a better album to this. im not saying this to discredit their talent, in fact quite the opposite. i think that they had raised the bar so high that not even they could compete with themselves. i've listened to this album for a better part of 5 years now, and even now i still find new things to appreciate here and there. from start to finish this album has affected me in many ways that not many other albums i have spent the time to truly ... read more
A beautiful album with difficult but reoccuring topics in our lives; death, life, rebirth, and everything inbetween. The production is also perfectly suited for each song, with the range from being a upbeat pop banger to a hauntingly beautiful piano. Although it feels jarring at times with the change in tone from one song to another, i think that was the intent to show that there is no chance for breath in a life that is full of change as the world keeps spinning regardless if youre here. i feel like everything till hell yeah is such a banger that it feels disappointing rating it as low as i am right now, it really is an amazing rock album with great lyricism, but the weak ending really is a blow to gut. Soda and Particle are some of my favorites from this album and I would recommend anyone who's looking for something to itch their craving for modern rock that has a wonderful twist to it which really enhances the listening experience
Honestly don't know why I've held off listening to this album for so long, this is so earwormingly good its been stuck in my head for like the past few weeks, the blend of optimism and soft rock caters to me so well its as if Fleetwood Mac handcrafted this album for me. The cohesion as well is an underrated aspect to this album, how almost every song flows so smoothly into each other, it just makes for the perfect listening experience over and over again.
"Will you take me as I am?"
This is my first time to listening to one of Joni's albums fully, and suprisingly ( or unsurprisingly ), I thoroughly enjoyed it. A great listening experience, with some touching lyrics that are straightforward but written with such beautiful meaning, and her voice makes the lyrics so much more touching. My favorite of the 10 songs are too hard to choose because they're all so wonderful, but I'll say Blue for how it touched my soul especially so, with a ... read more
