After his last record, this feels like when someone accidentally says something a bit too personal and then makes a bad joke to distract from it.
I feel like we should recognise this is one of the best rap albums of the 2010s.
I knew you had it in you Jim Legxacy.
The range on this album is phenomenal, honestly the main thing tying it all together is just how heavenly it all sounds. Every song has such incredible quality packed into the short run times. Jim Legxacy has become a UK icon on bbm.
Legendary jazz saxophonist Charlie Parker recorded the first Charlie Parker With Strings LP on November 30th 1949, fulfilling a lifelong desire to record in a string orchestra setting. Danny's most stripped back project still stands out for his patented writing style and comedy. Generally less serious subject matter than most of the rest of his work results in some easy listening.
The most of-its-time Danny Brown album. Which is interesting because I think this project was intended to be Danny's most 'modern' sound to this point in his career. Well, he definitely managed to fully embrace 2013 sounds on this while maintaining his own style and creativity, and although as a result it definitely sounds its age, its still really fun :) ! Thank you Mike this album is very beautiful.
Edit: damn his song concepts and writing are so great on this album
So catchy and so stylish. A founding thesis for the mod revival and must listen album.
Don't let this slip past you, still one of the best indie records of the 2020s. AOTY 2020.
Let's fucking go lads. This sound is so fresh and you can hear the fire in every bar and drum slap. A very promising concept so far I hope they explore further. There's a ton of effort here and they know just how to make an addictive pocket of a song not overstay its welcome so you NEED replay after replay.
I'm buying my ticket for the hype train.
