I’m almost positive I’m not a furry. “Almost” only became a part of that sentence after I heard Big Wheel for the first time.
Feb ‘26 Edit: Fuck man this is gonna complicate so much…
It’s not the worst thing ever and it doesn’t help that the rest of daft punk’s discography is near flawless but this album does way too much meandering for my liking. Human After All and Prime Time Of Your Life are the only songs that feel like they go somewhere by the end, with the vocals on human after all constantly ascending which does an excellent job building tension, and Prime Time Of Your Life building to an instrumental section that then gradually speeds up until ... read more
Da Funk is the most literally me a song has ever been.
Definitely has some filler like Fresh, Oh Yeah, and Teachers but the good for the most part outweighs the meh. Around The World and Da Funk are some of Daft Punk’s best songs, Revolution 909, Indo Silver Club, and High Fidelity are also pretty fun tracks. Burnin’ kinda saddens me cause I wanna go back to it all the time for that incredible bassline but the high pitched frequencies hurt my ears and it sours the whole song for ... read more
I stumbled across this going down a rabbit hole I don’t even have the energy to explain right now as I’m incredibly sleep deprived. I don’t know why but I found this to be extraordinarily unsettling. The guy singing sounds like a vampire or something and there’s this ominous dread evoked by the album cover. Why is it egg? Why is the first song 9 seconds and the last song 20 minutes? And the last song has 4 movements but movement 3 is just called blane? Movements 1 & ... read more
This album single handedly justifies human after all’s existence as a part of daft punk’s discography. I need to preface right now ima be glazing the hell out of this album and I don’t even care.
The top review for this album from BGL 13 just says “musical cum” and I feel as though that encapsulates my thoughts on this album pretty well. I will be referencing that description later in this review but I figured I might as well credit that here ahead of time.
I ... read more
This EP’s pretty good but I wish someone warned me before I watched the music video for King Rat
This might be one of the most autistic albums I’ve ever heard, and I’ve listened to techdog all the way through. I really wish I could give this a 100 because the second half of the album is near perfect, there’s just a few too many songs on the first half I don’t care for.
Cilantro, Nine Stars, and Catch These Hands are all near perfect songs, and Won’t You Please Wake Up and I Haven’t Died aren’t too far off either. I’ve given birdsong multiple ... read more
1984 but kinky
The atmosphere built in those first three tracks might be perfect but the album gets sorta inconsistent after that. While New Dress is one of the best songs on the album it feels kinda abrupt as a closer. Tidal did also add 3 random songs to the end though (Breathing In Fumes, But Not Tonight, and Black Day) so I guess me feeling that way can be explained by just me having a lack of proper scope for how big this album is.
Also the lyrics on Question of Time are kinda extremely ... read more
Listening to this album from start to finish feels like being diagnosed with terminal cancer and proceeding to watch the most beautiful sunset you’ve seen in your life.
Quite possibly the most an album’s ever felt larger than life for me. Divinity, Sad Machine, and Fresh Static Snow evoke an unmatched sense of nostalgic comfort, Flicker and Polygon Dust are bops (especially that one breakdown on Flicker where those percussive triplets come in, that shit is so satisfying every ... read more
Perfect music for going on a drive after spontaneously deciding to change my life for the better.
While I loved didn’t mean to haunt you and scrapyard, I think the biggest thing holding those albums back was that at times the production felt like it was using its spacious and ambient atmosphere to hide a lot of the albums muddier production. (This is most prominent on songs like knots, being yourself, or dustcutter.) I’m not sure that’ll be the case for vanisher, the production on this single sounds really clean but quad’s personality still shines through the ... read more
Kind of a mix between a lot of incredible moments and a lot of underwhelming versions of songs that felt much tighter in the studio recordings.
The start of this live album is probably the weakest segment, especially Get Innocuous and All My Friends, which just sound like the originals but sloppier, but it picks up significantly once it gets to 45:33, that string of tracks from 45:33 intro to Us V Them is fantastic. The final stretch of the album starting at yeah is also incredible, they ... read more
Edit: I don’t think this is gonna grow into a 100 but it is still really good, I love when an album can make achieving such a consistent atmosphere look this effortless. Plus that Samuri Sword / My Warm Blood 1 2 punch still kicks ass.
Not Edit: I don’t know if I’ve ever been this intrigued by the way an album ended, feels like I just finished a really fucked up A24 film.
I’m hesitant to give this a 100, I wanna see how it grows on me, but I really can’t think of ... read more
Probably my favorite album from LCD Soundsystem. While “This Is Happening” feels more complete when it comes to the albums themes, Sound Of Silver is just so much more consistent, like literally half the track list is probably high up in my top ten.
All My Friends is easily the best song LCD has made, the songwriting on that song is beautiful and the subtle build in tension throughout the 7 minute run time is great. Someone Great is beautiful, New York I Love You is probably their ... read more
It’s possible this wasn’t the best album to listen to after cutiemarks but idk this album didn’t stand out to me nearly as much as anything else I’ve heard from Vylet Pony so far. There’s a couple songs with pretty charming instrumentals that I could see myself returning to, and the vocals throughout the entire thing were great, especially Namii’s features on the last two songs. I think the lyricism and production are a little too bare bones on some songs for ... read more
I strongly believe that a good cover is able to either offer something the original song didn’t or execute what the original was going for a lot better, and car seat headrest didn’t really seem to be going for either of these on this EP, instead just trying to replicate what the original did as closely as possible with the limited resources that they have.
Golden Years and Substitute did this the most, feeling like lifeless recreations of the original songs without a lot ... read more
Feels like the car seat headrest equivalent of Siberian Breaks. I’ve been worried that if csh continued to go for a more mainstream sound, Will Toledo’s sort of whiny vocals would feel out of place but they seem to have improved tremendously since madlo.
Incredibly hyped.
