The last album I forced myself to listen to was "darkillinger" in 2022, which didn't provide anything of substance except some moderately entertaining lines about violence in its opening track.
This, however, is a completely different calibre. Over just 38 minutes, Darkie tries so many different styles with such tight production and things to say that I can't help but be in awe at how this project was realised. "I'm going CRAZY" is without a doubt the ... read more
I went into this not really knowing what to expect, but man was I positively surprised.
"Theo" is a project brimming with the heart and soul that was put into it, and I can tell this is a labor of love and passion.
The guitars on this sound great, the production on this way good even though it was apparently recorded by one microphone in his bedroom-studio, I virtually found no tracks I outright disliked, just some that I prefer over others.
This is without a doubt, as I said, a ... read more
trench -> scaled and icy let down was a sacrifice so we can now enjoy clancy -> breach banger back to back
this is really really good, i love josh's drumming, the hook is catchy, the autotune works suprisingly well on tyler's voice, and tyler basically shows a wide repetoire of his vocal capabilities. this is really really well put together and set my expectations high. no notes.
even though most of the unfinished demos - expectedly - sound worse than their completed counterpart, this felt like listening to it again for the first time. jesus christ.
edit // a lot of the songs really grew on me, and the original rating didn't reflect how i view the album now, thus 86 => 91
For some reason I found myself falling down into a hole of japanese alternative and shoegaze music, and then it wasn't long until I heard of "Vocagaze" or "Mikugaze" which is just shoegaze with Vocaloid vocals, and I did not think it would work this well. This sounds awesome and is gonna be in my rotation for a while.
kanye continues to shit on his legacy that he has built for himself not just politically, but also sonically by releasing ass sounding tracks from an album that already sounded ass when he "released it" for his stem player 3 years ago
can this man retire already, jesus fucking christ.
very small, nice EP. nice to see something like this again after cold visions
ALBUM OF THE YEAR IS COMING
this is a sound i didn't expect after IDMTHY and scrapyard but oh my god it fits him so well and sounds really really really good im so excited for this
5 year wait and one of the messiest album rollouts ever only for an incredibly mid album.
this shit is sad man. as soon as i heard that this album was gonna have 30 tracks i was worried, and looking at the album on streaming services, seeing the length of some of these songs, my fears were all but confirmed. a ton of songs not even tow minutes long, most barely over 2:30. you cannot tell me this is all he's been doing for 5 years in the studio. this seems more like a huge list of ... read more
while Be Alone had one of the catchiest hooks in TLTs discography to make up for the verses, this song is just bland.
the only real good thing i can say about this is that, at 2 minutes and 12 seconds this isn't a long track, because if they went above 3 minutes with this one i might've just tapped out from boredom.
the instrumental sounds pretty boring and uninspired, the way the verses are sung don't click with me, the chorus doesn't click with me, nothing really of note ... read more
the wait's worth it, americans!
jane's new album under the band name venturing is honestly just more of what the singles sounded like.
thankfully i was a huge fan of those singles, so i'm also a huge fan of this album! while i do think the first half of it is a bit weaker than the second, this was a really really good, coherent, and tight listen and no song really felt out of place or "boring". this is a nice direction to take, especially when juxtaposed with her ... read more
really neat, especially the second song sounded amazing. sadly only 2 songs, but definitely worth checking out.
all the version differences aside the extended version of i lay down my life offers some really good songs not previously released. doesn't water down the album, just adds more neat stuff on top of it. i like this a lot, good job peggy
favs: Boy You Should Know! // What the hip hop hell is this ? // Come & Get Me
least fav: HATE
i haven't heard the "broken" version so i can't really understand the hate, its a fine enough song i can vibe to with a pretty catchy hook but that's about it.
upon first listen, this is good!
i like the rock-style instrumental that was already present on a lot of his last album, his vocals and the text sound really good and while i did wish he'd be doing something more like i recovered from this or either on or off the drugs, i'm not mad about this!
solid single, probably an album left over, nice to hear it get released
I feel like one day my feelings on this album will change and it'll go from a 100 to a high 90s, but for now this is the first year of my life I had two albums of the year. Kendrick returns without any prior announcement or marketing and introduces an incredibly dense and tight sounding album to his catalogue that seemingly follows in the same vein as Not Like Us and the general kind of mood it introduced. Some incredible songs on here (wacced out murals, squabble up, luther, ...) with ... read more
