This album is pure prog rock, utilizing a large array of interesting instruments to make an album that is intricate in its production. For example, the Mellotron used in other classic prog rock records provides a large variety of different sounds, even string sections and flutes.
My only issue with the album is the closing track is a little worse than everything else on here. In my opinion it is pretty boring because its runtime is pretty unnecessary. Also the synths at the start is quite ... read more
This album's atmosphere is through the roof. It all sounds so hypnotic and pretty for a Swans album. I wasn't expecting this to be jazzy either in the 3rd track. The album overall can be intoxicating and haunting, just as much as it is pretty, it is a perfect mix of the two extremes.
My favourite example of this blend is The Cloud of Forgetting and Frankie M. For the Cloud of Forgetting it is one of the most beautiful Swans tracks I have ever heard. It is has beautiful ambience with ... read more
Unlike other albums the drums and bass act as the most central parts of the song. It is overall more groovy than the other 2 Swans albums I've heard. Which is something I didn't expect to say about Swans. It still has remnants of atmosphere, but it goes for this interesting approach of being more direct sounding. Also the vocals are really wild, they are unhinged, and strange, but in a way that tickles my fancy.
This album also has insane build up, particularly on Screenshot, where ... read more
my dumbass went through this entire album without knowing Zev Love X is MF DOOM?! Damn ok no wonder why my friend enjoys this.
This album is pretty funny actually, a rare trait for the albums I typically listen to. I find the dialogues between Mr. Hood and the rap group are humourous. The skits make this whole album feel like a story with a beginning middle and ending. One interesting way they do this is that we don't automatically get the full rap group, it's like we're ... read more
A very good album by MF DOOM. MF DOOM has a very off the grid rap flow, which makes his rapping hit less hard but makes his flow feel more realistic at the same time. It's a double edge sword at least for me, but it does set him apart. This album also has amazing production, it feels melodic, like it has actually melody lines that are more complicated than something you would here in the 90's which are usually simple chords or a simple melody line. Neither approach is bad but again it ... read more
At first I wanted to have this review be in all lowercase with no spaces but it just looks really bad
This is one of the best albums I've listened to in a while (not saying much admittedly, haven't rated much albums recently). This is such a consistent record overall with so many good songs.
One particular aspect I like about this album is its instrumentation. It is super chill on a lot of the beats like myintrotoletuknow & funky ride And the basslines are just full of ... read more

So after my ADHD hyperfixation of Gorillaz died down so did my love for this album, this is nowhere near my other 100s so it was time to change the rating. But after this change I realize it was way better than my other 8/10s so I changed it to a 9/10.
Old Review:
Demon Days is one of the best albums period, and my personal favourite of all time, and of Gorillaz Discography
The Intro track is not a song I'd jam to obviously, but it's a great mood-setter for the ... read more
