What a way to close an album.
I haven't delved into melodic death metal that much, so I wasn't expecting to like this.
It definitely surprised me.
R.I.P Trevor Strnad.
This album isn't bad. The instrumentals are probably pretty good, but I wouldn't be able to tell for sure because it's a little poorly recorded. Specially the guitar, it sounds really hollow and gets lost between the vocals and drums, which are really good, but sound a little rough as well.
Nonetheless, like I said, the drums are very good, and it's always nice to listen to a straight-edge band.
I don't think you need to be a Christian, or sympathize with Christian ideologies to love this record, and other bands like this. It isn't on the nose at all.
Personally, I'm not a religious person, but the themes and the way they are presented just work for me. The melodic instrumentals and clean singing are beautiful, and the screams are straight up gutt wrenching.
I'm sure if these guys hadn't split up so early on after this album released, they would've been ... read more
The mix of clean choruses and harsh vocals works pretty well. I'd say there's moments where it feels a little rough around the edges, but it doesn't really bother me that much.
You could say Daryl's vocals are weird but I think they are pretty unique and work pretty well with the sound they are going for.
An absolute jaw-dropper in all regards. This album is what makes me love this style of music so much.
The song structure is so playful and creative, it's constantly doing new things and trying different sounds and makes it really fun to listen. Balances every single musical style flawlessly.
Definitely one of my favorite albums of all time.
This is really energetic and agressive, i feel like a lot of bands nowadays dont have the same energy as stuff like this.
The drums are a standout.
Very fun listen.
Finch were one of the first to do this specific sound right.
The title track had me dead on the floor.
I only have one complaint, 10+ minute songs really annoy me, Ender is really good but it didn't need to go on for 7 more minutes of nothing.
A very fun concept album. It slows down a little during the second half tho. It's still really good but the first couple of tracks are genuinely incredible, leaving the rest of the album feeling a bit underwhelming.
This band should've been bigger.
Anthony Green is really talented. Translating the Name by Saosin is one of my favorite releases in the scene. This isn't really my thing, but I can tell it's pretty good.
I like the guitar work, but overall just felt kinda boring and uninteresting.
Underrated band.
Shame they are breaking up this year.
