an album full of personality and energy. mostly possesses a fun and boastful feel, but leaves you with deep thoughts at times.
the highs of this album are surprisingly amazing. with that being said, it has really questionable and low moments. it doesn't feel very refined as a whole project. still a nice listen, though.
honestly, despite electropop/dance being amongst my least favorite genres, i really appreciate this album.
this project has so much personality. a fun listen that makes what kind of a person charli is, very transparent. this album represents the word 'brat' really well, basically.
i really wasn't a fan of some of the tracks, but the highs on this album offer a unique take on the genre, taking the 2000's dance feeling and adding modern elements to it.
long story short, ... read more
eminem made a decent track after all this time. can't believe i'm witnessing this
the features did more than what was needed on a track like this, and em himself sounded decent.
the theme of the song his mostly about goat status. it kind of gets repetitive after a while, but this is still a fun little track where the rappers deliver what's needed.
the one thing i wanna complain about is the beat. it's okay, but i feel like this cinematic style of beats is kind of out of ... read more
steve is an artist with great potential
gemini rights is a short but solid project mostly about steve's bittersweet experience with his love interest.
the artist gets personal in various moments through the record, but i personally think steve struggles to encapsulate that feeling throughout some of the songs.
another complaint i have is that the second part of the album does not try as hard as the first to stand out. it does not do a great job at keeping the listener's attention, ... read more
sampha is an artist in a class of his own
a sound unlike any other. outstanding production accompanied by his amazing vocals. lahai has a heavenly style, one that is hypnotizing in a way that keeps you wanting for more. a spiritual journey that is intoxicating.
favorite tracks - dancing circles, stereo colour cloud, what if you hypnotize me?, spirit 2.0
good standout tracks such as keys to my life, burn and beg forgiveness, but as an overall project, it's a complete mess
it's hard to complain whenever you're listening to a jev. project. amazing lyrics with a kendrick influence, great production, confident deliveries and flows. amongst the stronger rap albums of the year.
a dreamy experience. has a very distinctive style that shows who earl really is as an artist. feels like exploring the mind of a person deeply lost and confused.
definitely had high expectations, knowing that this album was made by someone as respected and successful as killer mike, and it definitely delivered. even in 2023, killer mike's pen game is still very strong, and i don't think i even need to mentioned his skill as a rapper.
definitely makes you feel a certain way after finishing the album, and i wouldn't say there are any 'low' points, just some tracks that stand out more than others. amazing project, definitely ... read more
muchi comes back from his last ep almost like a different person, with a completely different direction. the artist focuses on his upbringing, his mentality and fame.
just like most muchi records, i feel that the highlight of this project is the production. the great beats that complement the themes and lyrics of the tracks in this ep really show muchi's talent as a producer.
despite muchi's lyricism getting better for the most part, the short project can get repetitive, as he sticks to the ... read more
muchi branches out and tries a new style. not very refined compared to other projects in muchi's category, as he has followed a path that he is unfamiliar to. definitely had the chance to be a better record than the final result. the new muchi undoubtedly has potential, though.
beautifully crafted record that hits you right in the heart, especially considering the story. great instrumentals all around. honestly wished the vocals weren't so drowned out by the instrumentals but i can't deny that it gives the whole project its own charm.
"LONERWRLD, vol 1" has a very confident jev. rapping over great boom bap instrumentals. no track will give you a second to get bored. showcasing his rapping ability as well as his lyricism, especially on the final track, "doctor, can you help me" where he shows that he can branch out to different styles and still be successful.
i feel like this project deserved a longer runtime, but genuinely no complaints here. this is an amazing EP made by an extremely talented artist ... read more
it's insane how this monstrosity came from the same person who has made songs like crumble, empty and baby boy.
a project where schoolboy q has a very confident and strong style and delivery, accompanied by great production. starts off really strong, but loses its soul around the end. great project nonetheless
a solid project overall, but has a few tacks that get overshadowed by others.
an ambitious artist from decatur, illinois, marble teeth has been one of my favorite underground finds for the past year or so. this self titled project is a short and simple, but impactful one.
none of the songs have left my rotation ever since i discovered it, albeit some have slight flaws. although marble teeth's style does not stick out much from many other people due to its simplicity, that's also one of the factors that makes this project so great for me - it's a simplistic and humble ... read more
an amazing track about the mental struggles of muchi that many of us can relate to. one of the artist's best lyrical performances.
an introspective, short project about kanyes mental health and struggles. the contrast between tracks like yikes and violent crimes show us the different sides of Kanye, caused by his bipolarity. although some tracks may have simple production, thats what gives it it's charm. i don't really have anything more to say about this project. great stuff.
