Yaya Bey - Fidelity
65

vocals sound off key a lot which might be the point? but I don't like it and I'm having trouble getting past it. Still some gems like "Blue" and "The Great Migration"

Sofia Thompson - ETHEREA
70

It really annoys me that people won't branch out and listen to music outside of their own language. I know a lot of people who would like this but probably wouldn't listen to it on their own since it's in Spanish. If you like electropop, this is for you.

ELIZA - The Darkening Green
75

muted, vibey alternative soul. I think the best songs ("Pleasure Boy", "Cheddar") bring a bit more energy and range to the overall quiet album, but it's still a great listen. Would recommend for your next smoke sesh or "set the mood" playlist.

Holly Humberstone - Cruel World
75

Coming of age in a sweet, sparkly way. As in, the kind of nice gentle pop that could almost certainly be used in a "The Summer I Turned Pretty"-type rom-com, love-triange series.

Jordan Patterson - The Hermit
70

Her voice will be polarizing, but her songs have a beauty and ease that make me think there's hope for the new generation of singer songwriters.

Slayyyter - WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA
65

Would love to hear this in the club, but not something I can see myself coming back to on my own. Catchy at its best, overstimulating at its worst. C*nty tho!

DERBY - Slugger
70

The production is fine but I don't love the voice dubbing. This seems like something that some high schoolers/young people on tiktok could find really cool and indie.

"Gold", "Ultraviolet", "Two Step" feel like he's trying too hard to be Dijon. It's a lil too copy-cat for me and still doesn't hit the fullness of Dijon's producing. Catchy stuff otherwise tho!

Olivia Escuyos - Yours Truly
80

On Spotify this is an LP, so I'm rating it as an LP and counting it for my album a day. Australian Filipina R&B gotta be one of my fave genres! This is such a smooth project, great vocals and songs that I think could and should make it into the mainstream.

maye - Música Para Abrir El Cielo
65

I guess I just wanted this to be more dream-pop.Maybe on me for setting an expectation in my mind, but I think this is only okay.

Arlo Parks - Ambiguous Desire
70

just found out arlo parks is british? buy anyways, this album is catchy! not something for my taste, but it feels like a great soundtrack to some young person's coming of age story

Fabiano do Nascimento - Vila
80

So pleasant -- gorgeous guitar and orchestral strings that surround and form the melodies. Maybe not all eternally re-listenable, but a lot that you'll want to return to.

Thundercat - Distracted
70

Not bad, just a little flat. The songs all sound the same, so with the exception of some great features, it's all just okay.

Ray Laurél - Music For Lovers
45

The first song had me so excited for this album, and then I was pretty immediately disappointed by the rest of the album.

Snail Mail - Ricochet
65

There's seems to be a bit of a disconnect here. I can hear what SM is trying to do, but I don't think it's been actualized. Not unpleasant, but a little lacking. That late 90s, early 00s nostalgia still makes for a Vibe, but I think I was hoping for a bit more in terms of vocals and lyricism.

Tom Misch - Full Circle
80

I usually prefer to rate albums as stand-alone projects rather than compare them to the artist's other work, but Tom Misch's Full Circle seems to stand so well next to it's predecessor. With less funk but no lack of soul, Tommy boy gives a pleasant, 41 minute score to a nice drive down the coast. As always, he brings some gorgeous guitar riffs and utilizes the hell out of a looper pedal. It's coming-of-age, John Mayer's Room for Squares, with the kind and effective ... read more

Robyn - Sexistential
70

I respect Robyn. Mostly because it turns out I've heard a lot of her songs and never knew who sang them. I can't say I'm a fan, but I just don't think this is for me. However, if I heard any one of the songs off this album in the club, I'd still dance my little heart out. Dancey pop serves 2026 yet again!

RAYE - THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE.
85

I'm building an army...Mon Laferte's Femme Fatale, Rosalia's Lux, and Raye's THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE.
I mean WOW, let's talk about vocals, let's talk about drama and dynamics, let's talk about it!!! Raye soundtrack for an Emerald Fennel movie when?
Triumphant, powerful, just gorgeous.

Gorillaz - The Mountain
70

Structurally solid as always, the Gorrilaz x Anoushka Shankar vibes are gorgeous, but something I'll probably only play while enjoying nature or attempting to meditate.

Hilary Duff - luck… or something
55

I love that Hilary Duff is having her moment! However! I don't have a lot of nostalgia related to her, so maybe I'd enjoy this more if I did? I'm also not a huge fan of this kind of saccharine pop, but I think a lot of women will find a lot of relatability within this project.

BETWEEN FRIENDS - I Love My Girl, She’s My Boy
50

A little too chanty pop for my taste? I think it could be fun at a party but I can't see myself choosing to listen to this on my own. Are they famous on tiktok? Because they sound like they would be - take that as you will.
