This was really gorgeous! I had a few bum albums these last few days so this was a breath of fresh air. Would love to see this live.
Not all of this is for me, but there were definitely a few stand outs songs (the more dreamy-pop >> dreamy electronic). Norwegian for sure
Not great, honestly. It's not awful, it just feels like the kind of songs they would give a disney channel star who's letting out their first album. Or a christian artist maybe. If you like either of those genres, this would be great for you!
I get why people would like this group, I just think I didn't like the mod on the vocals. Good for people who are fans of Tame Impala because of the more psychedelic elements

I went into this album and artist blind and didn’t realize they’re an emo band, so I was definitely thrown off a little (I thought they were an indie band for some reason?). And had I listened to this when I was in my own emo phase, I’m sure this would have really hit. I applaud any artist that can use their music to talk about hard feelings in such a candid way. I’m a little disappointed tbh :-/ I was seeing a lot of great reviews and maybe this just isn’t for me? I feel like the new wave of pop right now is a little over-sexualized or something which I guess is fine but it’s a little boring? The first half of this wasn’t for me tbh. I’ve never really listened to ASAP, so I don’t have much to compare it to. However! Brent Faiyaz stepped in. Then Playa hit. Then the rest of the album’s collabs really got me. I love more melodic tracks and I really liked when he got into them, especially the jazzy Doechii track.
I mean, I just love Cornelia Murr. It's a soft and sweet album. I love the warmth of her voice, I think this is a great album to fall asleep to (complimentary)
Wowee this was such a great way to end the first month of album a day! Cleo Reed needs no genre to define them, and I hope they never do. Had something for everyone, but still felt like there was some magic invisible common thread connecting each song to the next. Production was gorgeous and their ability to make difficult themes (ie our distressing political landscape) so palatable is truly a gift.
Here’s the thing - I don’t even think this album is awful, I just dont think it’s good. I don’t love Zavala’s voice so much, or maybe I don’t think these songs highlight it? fidgety felt like a fake pop song in a movie with a fake pop star. And I do think there’s an audience for that! It’s just not for me unfortunately
