Britney Spears - Blackout

her magnum opus. the pop bible. i don't think i can praise this album enough, in a time where britney was going through so much she put out a great dance album. i feel like most artists would've put out a more emotional and/or ballad centric album and that's not what she did. she was going through a difficult time and instead of doubling down she released an album with great production, catchy hooks, and club classics. despite not wanting to put out an album that is a reflection ... read more

The Weeknd - Starboy

edit: lowering my rating because i recently revisited this album and its such a roller coaster (not in a good way). a song would be great and then the next song would be mediocre and it just happens throughout the album, i never realized how inconsistent this project is. [76 -> 68]

funny story (actually pathetic story), i actually listened to this album because this guy i liked was obsessed with the weeknd. this was one of the first albums i actually listened to in full i think i was 15 ... read more

Charli xcx - The girl, so confusing version with lorde

not even joking when i say i shed literal tears to this song. the idea of both of them working it out on the remix and coming to the conclusion that neither of them actually hated each other and were both pit against each other in the media really is girl, so confusing...

Charli xcx - Pop 2

after listeniing to this mixtape again i realized i was too picky with my first rating considering this is a mixtape and the songs i disliked before have grown on me a little.

this mixtape definitely grew on me since i've first heard it and while it does have its low moments it has the highest highs. it's chaotic, the features add on to the songs they're on, catchy hooks. it truly feels like a new era in pop especially considering this was 2017 when not many artists ... read more

Charli xcx - BRAT

i can definitely see why this album blew up the way it did i feel like its the perfect combination of charli's more mainstream pop music (360) and her more experimental/hyper-pop adjacent music . for most of charli's career shes had to choose between both and she finally combined them in a way that is authentic to her. how im feeling now is her being inside during the pandemic and wanting to "go hard" and brat is post-pandemic where she is finally able to do that.

pink diamond starting this album off should've been the major indicator that i would love this album. i feel like this album is charli at her most hyper pop and you can get lost in the production that you might not always catch what shes saying. she's probably her most vulnerable and raw on this album, which is why this was a great pandemic album. even post-pandemic it still holds up and dare i say her best album...
