Beyoncé - BEYONCÉ
75

maybe i needed to be there when this dropped, but i didn’t resonate with this album the way other ppl did. she definitely has some great songs on the album and i do like the concept of the album of her reclaiming her sexuality after becoming a mother. there are some lyrics that i feel did not age well/should’ve never been said and some production choices that i question but overall not bad.

favorite tracks: partition, xo, blue

Brandy - Full Moon
85

fun listen, sensual and smooth vocals, nice production, although at times i feel like the production outshines her vocals. i feel like this is good album to listen to as an intro to r&b.

favorite tracks: i thought, like this, what about us?

Ethel Cain - Preacher's Daughter

album swap w woaeo

i made the mistake of listening to this album while walking instead of at night in my room alone the way it was intended but this is such a chilling album. i didn’t know what to expect going into the album i’ve heard ppl say it’s a little bit heavy but i did not expect it to be this loaded. there were so many things coming in my direction but i loved all of them the synths, guitar, haunting subject matter i was in awe. hearing hard times while walking made ... read more

Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk
93

this was my first time listening to magdalena bay and i wasn't used to this type of sound it took me about 3 times to fully register their sound but once it clicked, it clicked. mica has a great sultry yet airy voice, seamless transitions, great production. i understand why so many ppl were recommending it, just a great album.

favorite tracks: killing time, death & romance, vampire in the corner, tunnel vision

Taylor Swift - folklore
82

probably taylor's best lyricism and soft yet great production. i've never been a huge fan of taylor's vocals but her vocal performance here kind of shocked me i didn't even know she could sing like that. i really hope she'll tap back into this sound i think this is a great lane for her

favorite tracks: exile, seven, illicit affairs

Mon Laferte - Autopoiética
78

the album is a little inconsistent when it comes to track placements but she has some great vocals moments. there are trip hop elements, cumbia as well as cumbia rebajada, r&b, but still keeping her artistic identity.

favorite tracks: tenochtitlán, no+sad, autopoiética, amantes suicidas

100 gecs - 10,000 gecs
80

i don’t like comparing albums but this lp is definitely more focused and concentrated compared to 1000 gecs. great variety when it comes to genres mixing in with hyper pop.

favorite tracks: dumbest girl alive, 757, doritos & fritos, the most wanted person in the united states

Aaliyah - Aaliyah
85

great album with aaliyah’s signature smooth vocals, amazing production, and sensual undertones. despite this album being released in 2001 it definitely still feels new and not dated at all.

favorite tracks: more than a woman, extra smooth, u got nerve

OutKast - Stankonia
88

such a fun album with great rap performances, funny and moving bars, catchy hooks, explosive production, i can’t imagine anyone not liking this album. it feels so in your face but in a good way.
favorite tracks: gasoline dreams, b.o.b., we luv deez hoez, humble mumble

Ravyn Lenae - Bird's Eye
75

based off first listen i enjoyed this album the blending of r&b and electronic was surprising but really fun.

favorite tracks: genius, candy, love is blind

Sabrina Carpenter - Short n' Sweet
65

when i first listened to this album in the background it pretty good, but actually listening to it was a different story. while i don't think its a bad album i do think it has its highlights, especially the poppy beats, i think the lyrical content really brings it down. i understand what she was going for but i think she could've executed it a little better.

favorite tracks: good graces, espresso

Dua Lipa - Radical Optimism
65

didn’t feel very strongly about the album besides the singles.

favorite tracks: houdini, training season

Britney Spears - Femme Fatale
71

not to be #that person but danja should've at least produced a few songs on this album. i think they could've made some really good electropop tracks the same way they did on blackout.

favorite tracks: i wanna go, (drop dead) beautiful, seal it with a kiss, criminal

Britney Spears - Circus
73

this was obviously supposed to be blackout 2 so why didn't they keep danja as the main producer...? album is a little inconsistent it feels very much like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound.

favorite tracks: out from under, if u seek amy, unusual you, phonography

Mariah Carey - The Emancipation of Mimi
77

started at the club and ended up at church.

favorite tracks: its like that, shake it off, mine again, don't forget about us (deluxe)

FKA twigs - EUSEXUA
85

do u hear those techno beats... i would sacrifice my first born to hear those beats again for the first time especially in drums of death.
her mission was to make us transcend and she succeeded.

favorite tracks: perfect stranger, girl feels good, drums of death, striptease

Normani - DOPAMINE
72

this used to be one of my most-played albums of 2024 but i don't think it holds up in terms of its replay value.

favorite tracks: big boy, insomnia, tantrums

Yaeji - EP2
73

favorite tracks: raingurl, drink im sipping on, after that

The Weeknd - Beauty Behind The Madness
70

edit: after revisiting this album wasnt too bad, it was definitely more consistent compared to starboy, there are some boring tracks but nothing too offensive. [65 -> 70]

it could be because i wasnt really invested as much as i wanted to be but a good amount of tracks on this album are boring. will have to give it another listen.

favorite tracks: the hills, acquaintance, earned it

The Weeknd - Dawn FM
75

based off my first listen, i still need to fully digest this album, i enjoyed it a lot. the synths throughout the album are so pleasing to listen to and i like the whole radio station concept.

favorite tracks: how do i make you love me?, don't break my heart
