i can kind of see why this is her lowest rated album (even if i don’t agree). it’s kind of funny how this album is titled “Me. I am Mariah…” when this feels like the least mariah album ever. the concept is so messy and all over the place, lacking any kind of cohesion. this album also told me very little about mariah despite the title. there were some weird production choices and some outdated songs as well. the album also drags on, i don’t think 15 tracks ... read more
i have absolutely no idea what she is saying but who cares when the music is this good. so dreamy and pretty.
favorite tracks: fifty-fifty clown, heaven or las vegas, wear the ring, frou-frou foxes in midsummer fires.
this album is kind of all over the place and even a bit glitchy at times. i usually don’t like when albums are like this but she does it in a way that’s not harsh/distracting. she does a cool mesh of r&b, jazz, pop that gives this album texture.
favorite tracks: i h8 u, k.i.s.s., make good, lateee.
some very pretty instrumentation, especially the more jazzier songs. some of the songs in the middle kind of blend into each other but nothing terrible.
favorite tracks: mejor ya no regreses, la distancia, si me ven alegre.
the production is the best part of the album, unfortunately his voice is kind of hit or miss for me.
favorite tracks: max potential, it’s time, 9 2 5.
oved the instrumentation here. there were some beautiful strings, even some hard-hitting guitars, and some saxophone moments. her voice is very dramatic (complimentary). the only song that i found underwhelming was “aging young woman” production-wise it wasn’t doing anything special and the song just felt out of place with the album.
favorite tracks: stardust, struggle with the beast, unconditional love.
super pretty, i loved her voice especially the emotion she conveyed. didn’t see the translation for all the songs but the lyrics on “the beautiful losers” were my favorite.
favorite tracks: shadia, the beautiful losers, vows.
her voice is so gorgeous, very velvety. this is only her debut album and she’s already starting off strong!
favorite tracks: take care of me, silk and velvet, satisfy me.
this album was a grower. when i first listened to it i thought it was fine but for some reason something made me want to listen to it again and again. by the third time, i saw the appeal. i think what is making me come back to this album is cameron winter’s voice. i can see how his voice may not be for everyone but i love his tone. the first half isn’t as strong as the first half in my opinion, it definitely picks up on “island of men.” i can see why people love this ... read more
i really enjoyed listening to this album even if not everything pans out and it feels a little more like a playlist than an album. they had a clear theme for the album i just wish they delved into it more in the songwriting, they touch upon it but it’s mostly surface level. as for the songs they had some really fun songs like “friendly fire” it was so cool to see them diss each other in a way that was fun and still felt authentic and not corny. there was also the kaytranada ... read more
this song would’ve been way bigger… justin timberlake when i catch you..
if you like 2010s edm but in a way that doesn’t sound super dated this is a great album to check out.
favorite tracks: falling, sister, radio.
this album isn’t bad but after listening to it, it’s a little overhyped. i haven’t heard the original alfredo so maybe there’s something im missing. the rap performance is pretty good, production is fine for the most part with some lackluster moments. also didn’t really love some of the lyrical content but i tried to not let it influence my rating too much.
favorite tracks: lemon pepper steppers, ensalada, gold.
beautiful, gorgeous, amazing. this album started off kind of slow but the track run from “tregua” to “el alma mía” is soo good. it was also cool to see how throughout the album we see her deal with the breakup. so much emotion in her voice, beautiful instrumentation, and i loved her songwriting.
favorite tracks: tregua, como un pájaro, un rayo de luz.
this album is way too long and for no reason. i truly think karol g is capable of putting out a good, cohesive body of work but she loves to have these long ass albums (most likely to boost streams). i get what she was going for sonically but i wish she could’ve just stuck with the tropical sound instead of doing a bunch of different genres and trying to do a tropical/reggaeton fusion.
favorite tracks: ivonny bonita, amiga mía, si antes te hubiera conocido.
80 -> 78
revisited this album since it’s been a while since ive listened to it. i still think it’s good but it’s slightly bloated, had he taken off 2-3 songs this album could’ve been a solid 80. the album also kind of slows down towards the middle which has my least favorite tracks. i also really liked how he showed his love for puerto rico and highlighted the issues going on there, i haven’t listened to his other projects so idk if he always does it. ... read more
