i came into this album hoping to enjoy seeing how many people like it, but it was just meh to me. to start off, i'm not really a fan of zara's tone but i was still willing to give the album a chance. the biggest issue is that it sounds pretty dated, if this was 2015 this album would be doing numbers but it's 2025 and she's still at the party. some of these lyrics are also genuinely laughable like on "girl's girl" that being said "girl's girl is a ... read more
the atmosphere this album creates is so groovy and even freeing at times, especially starting off with a song like "la di da." i can definitely see this album growing more on me but i think the only problems i had with it was the length and the track listing. the way the tracks were placed made this feel less like an album and more like a playlist, a good playlist but a playlist nonetheless. the album is on the edge of feeling bloated, i think if she took off like 2 or 3 songs the ... read more
cute ep, not huge on them doing dance pop but it’s definitely not bad. i don’t really see myself coming back to this ep besides a few songs.
favorite tracks: how to get physical, killshot, stop & go
28 years ago, janet jackson released what many consider her magnum opus, "the velvet rope." throughout the album janet delves into various topics, sensuality, infidelity, homosexuality, and what was surprising to many, internet relationships. janet is clear where she stands with these topics and explores them through various sounds. there's trip hop, neo soul, electronic elements, and what many consider the start of alternative r&b. the album is intimate and sensual with ... read more
i kind of hate that this is a mixtape because the songs are good but they're so short. after the first two eps i didn't have high expectations for this mixtape but it was so good. they're finally getting close to being in their element with the synthpop production. i love mica's vocals as always but it was nice to see matt contributing some vocals as well i liked them more than i thought. we also got some spanish lyrics, mi gente latino!

you know it's bad when even swifties can't defend this.. when i saw that max martin and shellback were the producers for this album i had some hope in the album. im not a jack antonoff hater like i know others are but i definitely felt that she and jack needed to separate. max martin has been pretty hit or miss in recent years so i really didn't know what to expect. what i was though, was disappointed, what was the point of letting jack go if max martin is just going to do ... read more
i don't know anything about kacey musgraves (except that she did a cover of selena's "como la flor" and i thought she sounded good) so maybe what i'm saying has no validity but it feels like she's forcing that country accent in her singing a lot. it really puts me off at times. i think the production and instrumentals are super pretty and even dreamy at times but then she starts singing and it brings it down a bit, especially with these corny and at times preachy ... read more
this album is a weird one for me because i do enjoy the tracks individually but as an album it feels all over the place (although im pretty sure that's the point) and that's what's stopping me replaying this album. that being said i think i preferred the mr. morale side of the album, where he gets the most vulnerable, the lyricism and emotion is something else. i remember the first time i listened to "mother i sober" i kind of had to take a step back and just let it ... read more
i really liked this on my first listen, but by my third listen i wasn't feeling it. it's kind of a nothing burger, nothing great, but nothing offensively bad. despite popular opinion, i enjoyed the redbone cover it obviously is not as good as the original but the production was nice, the only thing bringing it down was the vocal delivery.
favorite track: move slow.
fun listen! n kind of wished she leaned into the more electronic/experimental parts of the album but i still enjoyed it.
favorite tracks: london song, CSIRAC, battery death.
in honor of today being this album's 40th anniversary, i decided to finally review it :]
wow.. what a great album, it's one of those albums where you understand why it's so highly praised. on my first listen, i wasn't aware that this was split into two parts i just remember thinking the second half didn't sound like the first half. the way she carried out the concept of the ninth wave was so well done and cool, i loved the eerie production with her great vocals. i ... read more
i was never a fan of little mix’s music so i wasn’t planning on listening to this album, but my best friend is a huge little mix fan and convinced me to listen to jade’s debut album. ngl, i was kind of shocked how much i enjoyed this album. i know lip service isn’t very liked but i enjoyed it, however i think it disrupts the album it would’ve done better as stand alone single. jade took risks that i wasn’t expecting her to. i think i prefer the top half ... read more

this devastating ass album... it's honestly been on repeat since it came out. i was excited for this album because i liked "preacher's daughter," i didn't love it the way other people did but one of my favorite parts of it was the storytelling and world building. nice to see that hayden keeps the storytelling and world building on this album with even better production. she does bit more with the instrumentation like the tawngy instrumentals in "nettles" or ... read more
this was a fun listen. it started off kind of boring imo but once wet & wild came on it got more energetic with more interesting production. while it was a fun album it was a bit inconsistent when it came to the quality of the tracks. it was a nice atmosphere she created even if it fell flat at times.
favorite tracks: wet & wild, tectonic, everything changes (but i won’t)
kind of shocked to see this ep has a high rating. the ep starts off well with “ waking up” that kind of gave me carly rae jepson vibes with nice vocals from both mica and matt. then we get “set me off” a pop rock song that i thought was fine. unfortunately, “head over heels” and “#wastehistime” didn’t do much for me and with uninteresting lyrics.
favorite track: waking up
a lot of this album felt like the songs were "when the pawn" rejects. i don't think it's a bad album but i also don't think it's anything great. it gets a bit repetitive at points and drags on a bit towards the end.
favorite tracks: o'sailor, window, oh well
re-listened to this album recently and came to the conclusion that its one of the best pop albums of the 2010s.
favorite tracks: run away with me, boy problems, when i needed you
kind of indifferent to this album, almost nothing left an impression on me.
favorite tracks: boom clap, die tonight, caught in the middle
lorde’s debut album and the predecessor of “melodrama.” one of the most notable things about this album is the songwriting. lorde was somewhere between 15-17 when she wrote these lyrics and it’s honestly impressive. the writing feels very mature with at times seeming juvenile like in “ribs” where she details the bittersweet feeling of growing up. the production is a little subdued with intricate details that you don’t catch on your first listen. ... read more
