To be honest, I never really understood the hype for this EP. Yes, there are a couple of great tracks here. But ultimately, I feel that it’s a collection of songs, rather than a connected EP. Some tracks are almost “deathcore” heavy, like “Cellar Door” or “Angel Eyes,” or really poppy, like “The Void” or “Ultraviolet.” There’s no red line, so I can’t really get a good grip on it.
FAVOURITES: Too Close / Too Late, ... read more
OK, I can see the appeal here. It’s a pretty decent Pop Rock album. Bring Me The Horizon doesn’t fail to show me why they actually are so big. Even though I’m not the biggest fan of Pop Rock. It’s one of the better ones O’ve heard. Props to Bring Me for that.
FAVOURITES: MANTRA, sugar honey ice & tea, wonderful life
LEAST FAVOURITES: fresh bruises, mother tounge
Not usually a fan of deathcore, but this was an experience like no other. It really reminds me of my favourite deathcore band Lorna Shore, without being boring nor generic.
I guess deathcore is best on EP’s
FAVOURITES: Winter, Death Empress
Currents is one of metalcore's biggest bands. And "The Death We Seek" is their best full-length album. In my opinion, this album is 2023's AOTY. And the album that made me fall in love with Currents.
They once again deliver on this djentcore style they are known for. Amazing riffs, catchy hooks, and a couple of really heavy moments, that all together make a fantastic metalcore album.
Currents don't reinvent the wheel here. But they try to perfect an already-made formula. It's safe ... read more
I don't know if I'm the problem or what, but this record was hard to get through.
Something with this particular, electronic, almost industrial style doesn't fit right with me. Other than "Dante" there isn't a single track I enjoyed. The production is not good, and the whole EP sounds bland. I guess I miss when their music sounded like Architects.
FAVOURITES: Dante
LEAST FAVOURITES: Miasma, Kraft, Let Me Disappear
Boundaries surprise me in every way with this album. They release a fantastic modern metalcore album, with beatdown hardcore elements. It’s heavy and I fucking love it. Easily one of the best modern metalcore records in a while, and an AOTY contender.
Darkness Sheared is a masterpiece.
FAVOURITES: Darkness Sheared, Like Petals From A Stem, Turning Hate Into Rage, A Pale Light Lingers, Easily Erased, Scars On A Soul
LEAST FAVOURITES: Blood Soaked Salvation
While the album is not necessarily bad. It’s probably the most generic metalcore I have heard in a while. If I listened to it another day, I could have liked it. But today was not the day.
So my goal here is to finally figure out my opinion of this album. I love it every time I listen to it, but I forget it when I don't. It's very weird, and I don't know why. Anyways...
"Color Decay" is most likely The Devil Wears Prada's most mature record. It's full of emotion, just as it should. It has both heavy metalcore elements and more pop-metalcore elements. Both are executed well, which leads to a satisfying listening experience.
They have made a record seemingly absent of ... read more
So, many would call this Currents's "magnum opus." And I completely get that. There are so many fantastic songs here. And Better Days is easily one of their best tracks. In fact, there are a lot of songs here I would put in that same boat.
Currents is one of my absolute favorite bands. They have a style that completely resonates with what I am looking for. "The Way It Ends" is no exception. When it comes to any kind of heavy music, what I value the most is emotion. I can't ... read more
Album of the year 2024: After a lot of consideration, I’ve finally decided that this is my 2024 AOTY. It’s been a year whit a lot of music I looked forward to. But it was the surprises that ultimately became the best experiences. And Imminence slightly edges out both Knocked Loose and Boundaries. It’s the album I have definitely listened to the most, and made the most memories with.
New rating: 98 ~~> 92. While I still think that “The Black”

This is what I call metalcore! An absolutely flawless modern metalcore single. This is easily the best song I have heard in a while. And that’s saying something.
I already know that this chorus is what I’m going to associate this spring and summer with.
Not my style of metalcore at all. But just like with Blinding Faith, this hit something in me. God this slaps! I think we absolutely can pre-determine this years album of the year without a shadow of a doubt.
The 2024 album of the year has finally arrived... NOT!
In all seriousness though, this album could have been a lot worse. Three out of four singles completely missed the mark for me, so it didn't look promising. But the album itself actually has its moments, which I wasn't prepared to say before the release.
While She Sleeps tried to reinvent their sound here. They have mostly sounded the same right up to "SLEEPS SOCIETY." Where they managed to sound fresh and still keep what makes ... read more
Such a boring album from my absolute favourite band. I guess it’s not that bad, it’s just very mid. Architects don’t fit industrial metal at all. So I hope they go back to their old style or find another style that fits them better with their next record.
FAVOURITES: be very afraid, a new moral low ground
LEAST FAVOURITES: living is killing us, tear gas, born again pessimist
Tether is a metalcore record that totally went under the radar for a lot of people, including myself. That is kind of strange, considering OM&M is one of the absolute biggest metalcore bands. Sitting at an impressive 2,1 million monthly listeners on Spotify right now.
Sadly, this is yet another underwhelming metalcore release of 2023. This album feels way too safe. It’s exactly what I have heard a thousand times before. There is little experimenting here. And that’s the ... read more
I still cannot fathom what I listened to here. Not in a good way. The album struggles to get a grip on what they are trying to do. They mix metalcore, alternative metal, pop and country. I have to say that I struggled to get a full listen-through. And now is the first time I got through the whole thing in one sitting.
They have doubled down on this radio rock sound. Any pop/rock radio channel could play some of these songs without a problem. The only AA albums I have really gotten into are: ... read more
