Black Sabbath - Master of Reality

I live for the opening riff of Into the Void

Weezer - Weezer (Green Album)
57

This is a very simple album, both musically and lyrically. I understand Rivers' desire to move into a more mainstream territory after Pinkerton's rough reception at the time, but it doesn't help this album's case to know that it came in succession to one of the rawest rock records of the 90s.
Nothing here is horrible, or even outright bad, I would say, but also, very few tracks make me want to revisit the album.

Boris - Pink
98

Great stuff.
This is the first Boris album I've ever listened to, and I'm not disappointed at all. This album is like an hamburger mashed in-between a perfect intro track and a perfect outro track, with some of the most high energy and noisy metal I've heard in a while. And, for how intense it is, it can actually get quite relaxing and ambient, especially with Farewell and My Machine.
I'll definitely listen to more material from this band in the near future.

Kitty Craft - Beats and Breaks from the Flower Patch
88

This is one of the most unique albums I've listened to in a while. Very cool.

The Brave Little Abacus - just got back from the discomfort—we're alright
87

I tried to listen to this album several times, since it fits right into the type of stuff I usually like, but never could get past the first few tracks. The mixing was weird, the vocals sounded goofy, and it was just too messy.
But, after a thorough listen, taking in all the emotional nuance and rawness the record has to offer, I can confirm it fucking sucks.
8/10.

Playboi Carti - MUSIC
68

Pretty standard for Carti, and I'm actually quite impressed at how consistent this still is with 30 tracks. It certainly isn't perfect, but I found myself enjoying most of the songs here and was less tired than I thought I'd be after 1 hour of a sound that is already very saturated.
I'm not the biggest Carti fan, but for what it is, I'm satisfied.

Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool
100

It takes a much more patient, slow approach than my other favorite Radiohead albums, but this may be one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard.
From the hitting intro track to the crushing outro, I really think that this a perfect experience overall, and brings some of my favorite moments in their discography, even if I tend to replay this one less because of its less immediate value.

Favorite track: Decks Dark

Least favorite track: N/A

Bright Eyes - Fevers and Mirrors
85

A bit less refined than their later work, but still, this contains some of my favorite songs of their discography, and Conor's songwriting is still great for most of the songs.

Linkin Park - From Zero
55

I don't care for it, but it isn't bad, really. Emily's vocals are solid and the production is mostly alright, maybe a little overproduced. For me it's really the lack of anything that sticks out that holds this project back, but I'm sure most fans will like it.

Tyler, The Creator - CHROMAKOPIA
86

One of Tyler's most emotionally honest works to date. This is really a rollercoaster, both sonically and lyrically, but it still manages to be pretty cohesive overall, with some central themes of paranoia, fame, Tyler's personal relationships, and not hiding your real self.
Tyler offers a mix of all he's been doing in the past couple years here, with the neo-soul inspired sound on tracks like Darling, I, some more hard-hitting tracks like Rah Tah Tah, and that mix of rapping and ... read more

Racionais MC's - Sobrevivendo no Inferno

The Latin-American Illmatic

Corey Feldman - Angelic 2 the Core
5

I really wanted to give this a high score for the ironic value, but after listening to it in its entirety, I just can't. I feel lobotomized.

Best track: Baby Blue Eyes

Worst track: Lickety Splickety

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven!
95

Sleep is the only song where everytime I listen to it I have to say to myself that it's the greatest song of all time.

Travis Scott - Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight
70

Too long for its own good, but still managing to be an enjoyable psychedelic trap trip and a solid inclusion to Travis' catalogue.

Green Day - Dookie
94

A true pop punk masterpiece.
I remember that when I was in my pop punk phase, this record never really clicked for me, and in retrospect, I don't really know why. This is just banger after banger, catchy hook after catchy hook, and these guys damn knew how to use a power chord.
The well-known hits here are incredible, and even the more lowkey tracks are also just very fun, and I don't think this album has any misses when it comes to the tracklist.

Avenged Sevenfold - Avenged Sevenfold
80

This is the pinnacle of corny, catchy 2000s alt metal, and I'm all here for it.
I was a pretty big fan of this band some time ago, though I slowly distanced myself from their music as my taste in music changed. I was curious to see how this, which was probably my favorite album from them, holds up, and I'm happy to say I still fuck with it.
M. Shadows' vocals can be quite grating at times, and this album has its fair share of cringe, but I generally can look past those things as ... read more

Giles Corey - Giles Corey
99

As someone who has struggled with a couple of suicidal thoughts in recent times, I'm Going to Do It was a pretty gut-wrenching listen. Anyway, this is an incredible album. It builds on some of the darkest and more atmospheric aspects of Dan's previous music and makes some pretty compelling pieces out of it, while lyrically it's as depressing as expected, complementing the music really well and making this a very strong experience overall.

Ice Spice - Y2K!
55

I'm pretty mixed on this. I'm far from an Ice Spice hater, and I do think that this project has its fair share of slappers, but goddamn shit can get bad too. I'm pretty negative on the whole middle point of the album, especially with songs like BB Belt and Did it First, and Ice's flow can get obnoxiously monotone many times. On the other hand, the first track is pretty decent, and the last 3 tracks are actually pretty nice to me. Gimmie A Light, for example, brings all the ... read more
