Tiny Vessels and Transatlanticism are no joke some of the greatest indie rock songs I've ever heard, especially when played back to back. The rest of this is fantastic as well but those two just fuck me up each time I hear it. Do yourself a service and listen to them if nothing else.
A Gorillaz album without much of the Gorillaz part.
What a mess. There are genuine highlights here like She's my Collar, Saturnz Barz, and Andromeda. But too much of this feels like an overcooked soup. Like it feels like Damon threw in as many random ingredients that he liked and thought would automatically make a good soup. There is little cohesion with most of the artists featured here. I really enjoy most of the their individual discographies, but their talents are wasted by being on ... read more
I genuinely heavily fuck with this song. Different for Gorillaz for sure and I really wish 2D was featured more on the track (a problem with Humanz in general tbh), but this is a trippy song with some great beats and progression. I really enjoy the music video for this as well. Definitely one of the better tracks off of Humanz.
So this might be peak.
Maruja comes through with their first full-length album (finally), and what can I say that isn't already being said? It's a gut-wrenching, powerful, and incredibly moving set of songs. Not a single second here feels wasted. Every moment adds and builds on each song and releases into a crescendo of dark but hopeful lyrics and sounds.
So happy they hit it out of the park on their first go-around. I'll have to keep listening to see if it's post-nut ... read more
TOP's most thoughtful and solid work since Trench. Their previous album had some bangers but a good chunk of the songs felt aimless and annoying. Here, not a single track feels like that. I wouldn't call anything here bad. Hell I'd call pretty much every track at the very least enjoyable with even some major standouts like the first track, alongside some others.
No matter what song though, I was enjoying myself. Fantastic writing, interesting and unique tunes, and some rock ... read more
Man I haven't listened to an album like this in a while that made me just vibe out.
I don't remember much of this except for like 2 songs and I just listened to it. A shame, but what is here is still solid and worth a listen if you enjoy Car Seat Headrest. But this sounds like it could have been made by literally anyone else.
Bloated, but some of Abel's best songs are on here so I can't be too upset. Still a fantastic and moody listen throughout, just wish it was shorter and some of the fat was trimmed.
I would give this song a rating higher than 100 if I could like fuuuccckkkk it's perfect
What an electric single. So grand and sparkling. Easily the best song Ware has released.
That single really threw me off huh.
It's fine. There are some good songs here but never reaches the greatness that is the single. Nothing here sounds like that. Which is fine, he clearly wants to make something else. I'm just not into it as much as what this could have been based off that single.
I've never understand features that appear for like seconds and then leave. Like why are you even here then. Anyways song is good.
This absolutely blindsided the hell out of me. Had no hype for this album even though I have enjoyed some of Gambino's songs in the past (Redbone is legit perfect), but then this came out of nowhere and surprised me with how wonderful and grandiose it sounded. Really hope the rest of this follows the luxurious soundscape Gambino has made here.
First three songs are legit great and then after that, it careens so hard off a cliff that it ends up feeling like I left an egg out to rot in 100+ degree weather and ate it AFTER this album landed on it and deep-fried it.
What an enchanting, simplistic, but beautiful experience this was.
