Every once in a while you listen to an album so good, so perfect, that it truly changes your life. This is that album for me, Not a single dull moment on this one. There is so much energy in this that every time I listen to it, I feel like I'm listening to it for the first time. Just perfection.
Always loved this one. Managed to deliver a consistent string of bangers (expect for Friday 13th that one is just ok sorry) in a relatively short 11 tracks compared to something like the bloated Humanz. Seriously, I play nearly every track here constantly, years after its debut. Not as narratively cohesive as compared to something like Plastic Beach or The Mountain but as implied by its very concept and title, this is rather just a phenomenal collection of bangers.
This is just a vibe through and through man. Yeah, it's not Gorillaz's most deep project or anything but I don't understand the stigma this album tends to have online. I was just having a good time throughout this thing as the sounds and texture the album created had me feeling like I was just chilling in a pool of pure funky bliss. Plus, Souk Eye is seriously Gorillaz's best closer track and one of their best songs in general.

Gets repetitive and samey at many points but this reminds me a ton of Trilogy which was great to hear. That gothic synthwave is what drew me to him in the first place so hearing more of that is fantastic, even if some of the oomph from that trilogy is still missing. Still though, a great step in the right direction.
As per usual, Bruno Mars voice is lovely. But its all in service of an album that's way too short and way too safe. No single song here excites me or makes me wants to jump out of my chair and dance. There are moments of that on here, but whatever moments those amount to can't save this from being a pretty boring listen throughout. Sadly, after all this wait, I'll forget I even listened to it by the morning.
