Hot take: Obzen sounds better on this album. You can actually hear the double bass on this album, and that’s what I like about it. As a drummer myself, if I want to learn a song, I like it when the double bass is loud and you can hear it so it helps you recognize the pattern. I tried to learn Lethargica last year and couldn’t hear a thing smh.
Literally just the same track. Not reviewing this ngl
ITS BEEN 13 SECONDS SINCE YOUVE ALL LAST SSSAAAIIIDDD!! This song should’ve been on the album if you ask me. The drumming is awesome, and the rest of the band pours their heart out and does their best. This gets an 80/100 from me.
Sheesh. You know, after hearing this, I wish TMV stopped after Noctourniquet and just stuck to live shows and the occasional reissue, but THIS? No. This might as well be an impostor band claiming to be TMV, because after hearing Blacklight Shine, I refuse to even BELIEVE they made this trash and thought “The prog rock community’s gonna love this one!” This “album” felt like a CHORE to get through. This gets a 19/100 from me.
Okay. After relistening to this masterpiece, I thought to myself: WHAT WAS I ON GIVING THIS A 7.9/10?! This album is amazing, and dare I say, maybe better than Deloused In The Comatorium. 10/10.
OG REVIEW/RATING:
Wow. Where do I even begin? This album is nowhere near DITC, but still a fascinating project. Casandra Gemini might just be one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Flea left TMV after their debut tho :(( anyways, this album feels pretty solid with amazing songs like The Widow, ... read more
This was the first album that I had ever fully listened to, and it couldn’t have been a better decision. Jon Theodore is crazy on the drums, paired with Omar’s guitar skills and Flea’s bass playing, makes this a perfect album. And where are my manners? Cedric sings his heart out on this one with his loud but thought provoking lyricism. This album is a jazz, avant-prog, and psychedelic rock infused masterpiece. This gets a 100/100 from me.
