The raw and deep lyrics sung beautifully by amanda palmer talk about love, pain, abuse, betrayal, body image, self harm and gender issues. The combination of drums, piano and singing make this beautiful and unique punk cabaret sound. The dramatic and Romantic piano and vocals create a dual tone that switches between this angry and violent voice and a quieter and eerier one. This was probably my favorite album around the time it came out in lockdown. It introduced me to girl in red and other indie rock and pop bands and artists. I like the album but I feel like some of the songs are an itsy bit boring and unexciting. Some great songs though. My favorite song on the record is called 'Serotonin'. It has the right energy and instruments and lyrics and it overall a great track. One thing do I love across the whole album is girl in red's vocals. They are ... read more
I remember the first time I heard the song 'Welcome to the black parade' and all I could think was "wow, this song really sucks". Now, that song is probably my favorite in one of my most loved albums.

Apart from the vocals, my favorite part of the band would be the drums. They are fast and energetic and exciting and perfectly replicate the unhinged energy in Mariko Goto's voice.

I literally can't stop listening to this album.
This is by far one of my favorite albums ever. The energy, the story, the lyrics are just perfect. A great story presented in the best way possible. Each song feels like a chapter in book or a song in a musical or a piece in a ballet. It starts and ends so well, whenever I listen to it on loop it comes back to the start so nicely. The story follows a man after the death of his "demolition lover" as he completes a mission given to ... read more
