What an explosive debut. When I listen to "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'", it's unsurprising to me how this thing completely consumed the rap game in the early 2000s. It's full of bangers, assisted by some of Dr Dre's hardest hitting production, as well as a hyped up 50 at the absolute peak of his powers as an MC. Cole absolutely delivers on every single song, giving astonishing, thought provoking verses about growing up in the world and making a career for yourself out of what you've seen and where you've been. It's a truly inspirational mixtape from an upcoming legend who ultimately became everything he wished to be.
It took me a while to see the light with this album, primarily because I'm such a huge fan of "Rodeo" and wasn't quite ready for Travis to change direction.
