It’s nice!! The vocals can be better but the instrumental makes it up! It’s groovy funky and catchy.
Owl City may be one of the most misunderstood and under appreciated artists of the 21st century. As someone who is introverted and struggled with anxiety and depression throughout my life, I felt like this album understands me in a much more personal level. Sends me into a futuristic utopia that I never want to escape in. Part of me feels I should be embarrassed to listen to this kind of sugary bubblegum music, but I just don’t. There’s so many aquatic and complex synth work in this ... read more
The weird ass thing about this ep is that the music part is actually pretty decent (albeit generic) and the singing isn't bad either. However, the main gripe I have with this thing is the lyrics. You pretty much already know what you're about to expect with an album cover like that. Maybe if you're into that type of kinky songwriting, you might get something out of this. Otherwise, this isn't really worth your time. Also that Helluva Boss sample made me die inside.
You know what Dntel, you’re right. Life IS full of possibilities. And we should all make the most of it.
Some people on RYM unironically enjoy this album for some fucking reason.
Objectively speaking, this isn't a good album at all. The GarageBand-esque production here is obnoxiously bloated with heavy autotune, sugary 8-bit synthpop and lyrics equivalent of a hopeless romantic middle schooler. But man there's just something about this that scratches my brain the right way. It feels like an escapism in music that sends me to a happy place that I wish existed in some other universe. You can tell that this kid put out this project with a lot of heart and soul, I guess ... read more
The song is pretty aggravating tbh, especially the chorus
Ocean Eyes by Owl City be better…. this is one of my favorite songs from her tho.
This album is very sweet and soothing but at the same time very dark and unsettling. I’m not sure how he was able to pull that off.
When seeing the album cover being all bloody and having the name SUICIDE on it, it's hard not to be curious on what to expect with this album. Goddamn.... how could this album make the most minimal sounding synths and yet have it be more captivating and memorable than most other synth bands? The vocals and the electronics blend so extremely well with how dark, haunting, and mysterious it all comes out. And to think this came out in 1977 is just insane to me. Starting with Ghost Rider the song ... read more
With The Walkmen’s classic Bows + Arrows, the band seemingly took the approach of a variety of sounds on each of their songs that makes it stand out in the New York rock scene, you’d get post-punk revival for the most part, but there’s some art rock and chamber pop tunes that sounds refreshing. I can appreciate that they aren’t afraid of going with their own direction. It makes them stand out compared to their other contemporaries. Hamilton’s voice is raspy but at ... read more
I like how the song is trying to be unique with an auto tune and the hooks here stand out. Sweet song.
