This album is worth listening to for Memento Mori alone. Talk about an emotional hurricane. I've never been the biggest Arch Enemy fan, but with news of the new vocalist I decided to check this out. Solid track, love the guitar harmonies in the middle.
As someone who mainly listens to Converge for their chaotic compositions and at times manic delivery, this album doesn't fully scratch that itch. However, this is by far the best gateway album into the rest of their discography as it's heaviness comes from the sludginess of the riffs and how tightly packed everything is. Lol. I just got done listening to the new Motionless in White single that currently has an "87" user score out of 187 ratings. To say that song is a return to form and "revivalcore" disrespects bands like these, that know EXACTLY what revivalcore sounds like.
One of the best gateway black metal albums. Technical. Haunting. And certainly captivating. Truly one of a kind.
