Production-wise, the album is incredible. Seriously, I don't even know why, but some parts just sound so heavenly. However, not everything at once will be good. Because Weeknd's voice is a bit off. To be honest, the quality of the album itself, as individual songs, is almost beyond reproach. But the entire hour and 20 minutes make the whole experience horribly bland. Compared to, for example, Aphex Twin, there were many interesting rhythms that encouraged dancing or thinking, but here we have single sounds often without any pleasant melody. An ambitious, interesting and refined project that begins suddenly and ends just as suddenly. Apart from the songs with that artificial, robotic voice, which I never understood about Peggy, we get a lot of wonderfully crafted songs.
