Can I be honest? This new ITZY record is not good.
LOONA is a pretty interesting case. They've proven before that they're capable of putting out truly outstanding records (at least, their sub-units are), but, as a group, they seem to get less and less interesting with every release. While [X X] was a mildly enjoyable listen, I didn't care for [#] or its accompanying single So What, and LOONA has regressed yet again with 12:00.

[TWICE Marathon #6]
I mean, it's a Japanese compilation album of all of their title tracks, so I'm not expecting much, and I didn't get much. This is pretty typical of K-Pop groups to slap a bunch of rerecorded a-sides on Spotify and call it a Japanese debut, and the only noticeable change is that the mixing and vocal processing gets worse. Net loss. SIGNAL was actually a little painful to listen to. I don't have a lot to say about this except that I was surprised that CHEER UP and KNOCK KNOCK ... read more

[TWICE Marathon #5]
After two solid releases, it looks like TWICE took a step back here with SIGNAL. It's very reminiscent of their first two mini-albums - the title track is reasonably strong, and the b-sides range from inoffensive to downright annoying. Signal even ended up becoming TWICE's second Song Of The Year at the MAMAs, which (if I remember correctly) makes TWICE the first artists to win the award two consecutive times. Korea's it-girls indeed.

Along with the original tracks from Twicecoaster: Lane 1, this reissue has an additional two tracks - Knock Knock and Ice Cream. Honestly, my opinion of the record is pretty much the same as it was earlier. Knock Knock isn't as infectious as TT, but it's decent and has its moments. If there was any one record that solidified TWICE's position at the top of South Korea's pop scene, this would probably be it.
