Morgan Wallen - Dangerous: The Double Album
75

I'm a sucker for mainstream country music (just look at my Old Dominion reviews), and I can kind of see the idea behind making a super long album like this.. if all the songs were as good. Morgan Wallen isn't unique; if you walk into any BBQ place in Nashville you'll hear very similar vocal styles and guitar riffs playing on the loudspeakers. I wouldn't say that this album is HORRIBLE as the tracklist scores suggest, but it is filled with a lot of songs that could have been easily taken off or ... read more

Pearl Jam - Vs.
80

Pearl Jam managed to make a solid sophomore album following their huge debut.

Though some of the songs on here aren't as amazing as they were on their debut, it's still a really good listen. The first two tracks are really energetic and are honestly some of my favorite PJ songs. I'm not sure if I would necessarily consider this a grunge record, but the production is really solid for its time.

That's not to say that this record is perfect. Some songs on this record don't follow that same ... read more

Alec Benjamin - These Two Windows

Didn't I make a review for this already? Huh, I guess I got rid of it.

Whew, what a listen that was. Alec Benjamin isn't as cringeworthy as some put him out to be, and I really enjoyed his debut record here, but man is it depressing. Songs like Must Have Been The Wind target topics of abuse, while others such as Mind Is A Prison talk about feelings of isolation.

This album has grown off me a little as my taste in music has shifted quite a bit, but I like to return to this album once in a ... read more

Alec Benjamin - King Size Bed
NR

So... what's his new album going to be? High, screechy vocals? Trap beats? Dull production? BLEGH.

Imagine Dragons - Mercury – Act 1
60

Huh, why did I delete my review for this?

Hey all, haven't really been reviewing or listening to new music because I've been super busy with school.. but I'll get back into it soon.

Anyway, considering the new ID material we have coming upon us, I decided to revisit this album, and I don't get the hate for it??

Look, Imagine Dragons have released the most CORNY AND COMMERCIAL music of all time following their 3rd and 4th records, and I completely understand why people dislike the band so ... read more

Pearl Jam - Running
NR

Production needs to be a little more polished.. otherwise you got yourself a pretty decent PJ song

Soundgarden - Outshined
NR

That chorus is so fucking good and catchy. Some parts of the song feel repetitive here and there, but it's so fucking good and unique for its time.

I expected this album to be a disaster, but I'm still disappointed.

There are some fun tracks here and there, but I can't see myself listening to the entire album again. Some lyrics are also extremely unnecessary, distasteful, and not normal for anyone to say.

Green Day - Saviors

Emo-2000s core.

Green Day are a band that I never really liked. I didn’t hate their music, but I’ve heard the hits so much that their stuff just seemed repetitive to me. Only recently have I heard their classics and, if I’m gonna be honest, I didn’t really feel any excitement from listening to them. And I’m not saying that they’re a bad band or that their songs weren’t good, I just didn’t really enjoy the pop-punk genre.

I’m not surprised ... read more

Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion I
70

The Use Your Illusion albums are probably the last big releases out of GNR. Both albums deserve a lot of credit, but one thing that people seem to look over is that these are the last albums hair-metal has to offer. Is it a good sendoff for the genre? Sort of. The instrumentation is amazing (God, I love Slash) and Axl is an excellent vocalist, however, his voice gets exhausting after listening to the entirety of these albums.

The lyricism is much better than I anticipated, though some get as ... read more

Alec Benjamin - (Un)Commentary
50

I know I'm extremely critical of Alec Benjamin nowadays but the ironic thing is that he was the first artist I became obsessed with. His records made me fall in love with music as well.

I think this record is decent, though I'm a little biased. It has in-offensive beats along with some cute acoustic guitar work here and there. I wouldn't say Alec Benjamin is the strongest vocalist out there, but he can write a solid storyline in his lyrics, though some songs have some pretty questionable ... read more

Soundgarden - King Animal

"King Animal" is the final studio album from the legendary grunge band, Soundgarden.

I've kind of been on a Chris Cornell binge recently, listening to Audioslave, Soundgarden, and some of his solo work all in the same week. It's safe to say, he's now one of my top favorite musicians that I'm glad I discovered.

King Animal is a reunion album, and it's nothing special compared to the band's early work. The instrumentation is solid, and Chris' vocals are top-notch, but nothing from ... read more

Alec Benjamin - I Sent My Therapist To Therapy
40

Alec Benjamin making trap music is like Metallica making a pop song.. just doesn't work.

I feel like Alec Benjamin has been experimenting A LOT with his new music, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. His last two albums felt very generic and sobby, so I was expecting something different. Maybe he was going to focus more on lyricism? Perhaps more instrumentation? Well, no. Instead, we get the most emo song title someone could ever come up with and generic trap beat over Alec Benjamin.. ... read more

Guns N' Roses - Perhaps

Not a bad single, but not a great one. I can see how the vocals can come off as extremely annoying, but it’s very inoffensive.

Guns N' Roses - The General

Dear lord.. whos idea was it to release these shitty B-sides? I thought there was a chance that this was actually going to be listenable, but it’s not. If they’re going to release a new album, my hopes are very, very low.

Metallica - St. Anger

I watched the documentary. I've heard some songs off of the album, but I cannot, for the love of God, listen to the entire thing. I've heard snippets here and there, but I already know what I'm going to experience. TING TING TING BOOM BOOM BOOM AGHHAGHAHAHA

Metallica - Metallica
100

I’ll say this. While it’s definitely not as thrilling or exciting as their previous 4 albums, the appeal this album has in my opinion is songwriting. It’s a very dark record, and a lot of it is well put together.

75 --> 100

The record really grew on me. It has a very mainstream appeal but what I like the most about the album is that it includes some of the most heavy songs of Metallica's career. Sure, it's not thrash, but it doesn't have to be. The 90s were a completely ... read more

AC/DC - Back in Black

An essential to any rock collection. AC/DC have a very basic formula when it comes to hard rock, but it’s really, really enjoyable. Not a lot when it comes to lyricism or vocals, but a very catchy and fun listen.

Metallica - Ride the Lightning
100

One of my all-time favorite albums.

Whenever I put this record on my turn table, I rock out until I pass out, baby. It is such an engaging piece of work, that in my opinion, gets overshadowed by its successor, Master of Puppets. While both are absolute masterpieces, this one is my favorite. How did Metallica manage to release something this fucking good two records in? I love every aspect of this record, the ballads, the instrumentation, the lyrics, all of it is just perfect to me.

Muse - Absolution

FUCK YES!!

You know, I didn’t think I would have this much fun listening to a Muse album, as they weren’t a band that I wanted to seek out (the first album that I listened from them was WOTP..) but I’m glad I did. Muse does a great job of making an album that signifies the end of times and corruption within higher powers. The powerful piano ballads on Apocalypse Please give me such a freaky vibe that I cannot describe when I listen to it. AND THE GUITARS. DON’T GET ME ... read more
