good catchy pop music for most of the album, unfortunately some tracks do blend into each other but still a good album
This album has some great moments, supercut is the best song by far and the chorus is catchy and nice. Other songs i found good were green light and perfect places. Unfortunately the middle section of the album like 4 songs from homemade dynamite to hard feelings:loveless is a horrible run. I mean that transistion betwren hard feelings to loveless might be the worst transistion ever a compelte waste of time and that song does not need to be 6 minutes long. overall : good in some places. Very ... read more
This is a good album, most of the tracks were good and i enjoyed the guitar work and the vocals throughout, it has iconic tracks but i feel like only the chain is amazing. I was pleasantly surprised with how much i liekd songbird but i was let down by the verses off of go your own way. Its overrated massively but it isnt bad 79/100
The first side is filled with amazing song after amazing song (let down by maxwells silver hammer which i still find fun and charming and octopus's garden ringos best contribution to the beatles) and the second side is the magnum opus of melodies transistions are so smooth you barely notice them and the little nonsense songs that would not have been used otherwise fit incredibly well. i always enjoy when it goes from a theatrical ending (the end with its guitar solos and the only beatles ... read more
the most mainstream of the velvets albums, and maybe my favourite its very close between this and the vu and nico and white light white heat, its just filled with amazing pop and rock songs incredible and oh sweet nuthin is a perfect closer. i love the backing voacls on i found a reason and who loves the sun simple concepts of songs delivered amazingly
The beatles first masterpiece, littered with amazing song after amazing song (even the ringo song is good) the first use of sitars in a pop song and filled with innovation and classics this is the beginning of an incredible run from the beatles.
this is definitely better than please please me and i think its the album to me that sums up the energy that the early beatles gave off, cheerful love songs that feel almost made with smiles and happiness it feels like they were laughing while making it and some of the songs are amazing. all my loving is easily the best song but i really like their cover of you really got a hold on me. the closer is weaker than twist and shout on please please me but its kind of in the same vein. john screaming ... read more
easily better than there last two albums and once again shows the continuted improvement of the beatles, from that iconic chord at the beginning of the album from start to finish its enjoyable and energising. its also the first beatles album where they did not use covers so therefore doesnt include a ringo song which always improves an album cause his songs are the worst (sorry ringo, i still love you) the movie is also really good but dated more dated than the album. would definitely recommend
i dont get people who think this album is weak, every song is completely fine and good with some being great. it is clear that after the hectic 1964 the beatles had you can see the tiredness, for example going back to covers after ditching them for a hard days night. however the notion that is weak is weird. it might be the weakest beatles album but its still great
johns best solo album, raw emotional and speaking of his experiences in childhood and life, mother is especially moving telling stories about his childhood that were unknown before this. an exceptional album with a few downsides some of the deepcuts are not as good as the more well known songs like mother and working class hero. this brings the album down a few ratings but apart from that its great
once again, consists of earlier versions or songs that werent good enough to make the cut, so therefore would only recommend it to actual beatles fans rather than casual listeneres. however i would recommend to listen to the new song that came with real love
unfortunately let down by the back stage of the album, otherwise an incredible psychedelic expeirence with iconic riffs and great songs, shame they left in songs like outside womans blues and mothers lament but the run of tracks from strange brew until swlabr is one of the best track runs ever
just a soundtrack of the beatles classic rooftop concert, iconic and some of their best sounding songs here scattered with an improptu jam session. i dont have that much to say about it the songs are incredible and the last time all the beatles perfromed together. one of the most iconic concerts ever
the first side is filled with songs that sound like their classics, i mean here that riff on breaking glass its incredible, the genius of the exeprimentation and electronic sound was something bowie had never dine before, like a lot of times in his career he was changing the inspiration and the sound he was using. my personal favourite is always crashing in the same car the softness of it and the lyrics are genius. the second side is filled with brilliant instrumentals that feel almost ... read more
This is the beatles best album, every song on it is incredible (barring yellow submarine which i think is good, which is the best you can get for a ringo song) for no one is my favourite beatles song ever its such a sad breakup song those lyrics are amazing, not to mention the great love song here there and everywhere (in my opinion the beatles best love song) the exeperimentation in these sessions for the album can be heard on tomorrow never knows which was far far ahead of its time and ... read more
yes some of the songs drag on for far too long (d'you know what i mean, fade in out and all around the world) i mean seriously does a 9 min song need a reprise??? but the other songs are great, stand by me is a classic oasis song and liams vocals on it are amazing. but i think the standout song for me is dont go away. i still stand for the girl in the dirty shirt supremacy as well and the other songs range from good to incredible. i dont think this album is anywhere near as bad as people ... read more
an incosistent album that has amazing songs at the start up until waterfalls (yes temporary secretary is great you just dont get it) especially on the way which is a sound ive never heard from paul but he pulls it off amazing. of course coming up is the most known from this album and its a great poppy song i love it. shame the second half of the album is more filler and ok to good songs
this is a good return for matt johnson and the the, sure it lacks the great songs they had on previous albums but its still a pleasant listen and makes for a good album. my favourite is defintiely the william blake song which feels foreboding and a lot like the the songs like heartland. i would recommend maybe if youve heard the other the the albums but i guess anyone could listen
this might be his weakest album of the 70s excluding pinups of course but there are some incredible songs on here the first five are amazing, i really like somebody up there likes me the backing vocals really adds to the song. his cover of across the universe is just that a cover, it pales in comparison to the beatles version and therefore brings down the album as it does not need to be included i would rate the album more if it was not included. recommended
Bowie's return after a 10 year abscence from any new albums is exceptional, in fact it might be one of his best albums the only thing that lets it down is that back half which im not that fond of. the songs are still good they just pale in comparison to the first half. my favourite is probably the title track in which the imagery is powerful and is the precursor to blackstar in many ways. this might be a top 10 bowie album which means therefore its incredible and i cannot recommend it ... read more
