I believe this is 7 albums in one day, new record lmfao, I mean I had no choice we had a 8 hour car drive back home from the beach. After listening to Moonlight Radiation, I’ve decided to listen to this record, a chopped and screwed genre mix with experimental hip hop and etc. this record really showcased his skills and styles once more but this time weaker. The mixing was masterful still and this project was different in terms with the chopped and screwed title. The sound that mostly ... read more
I’m starting to think that maybe the taste in music I had before all this wasn’t actually that bad.. Such an enjoyable listen all the way through. I decided after listening to Dormant Mirrors / Drum, why not do a throwback. Jak3 being the biggest throwback for me, I thought he made good music back when I had bad taste, and now he still does with the taste I have now, that’s how good he is ig. Let’s start off with the sound of this project, now most people who are ... read more
This feels like a timeless classic that is lost to time or a classic that is from a different realm that people call a classic and we’re just now discovering it. The chopped and screwed aspect is overall consistent, the whole thing is 100% consistent. The sampling and mixing is clean and the manipulation of the samples is just genius. This album holds a special place in hip hop for its brilliant sound, it can mix and master all of these sounds perfectly and keep all of the samples and ... read more
This was imo far more innovative than detrimental wormhole simply because of the manipulation of the samples. Despite this being short of about 23 minutes or so I think, it had a lot and that is sound collage for you. The distortion of the samples, the layering of the samples and the vocal mix/pair. Overall this project is also what built the bandcamp tag “world” I presume. This guy is just a prime example, jak3 is a companion of him too I think. Anyways this project came close to ... read more
I decided that it was about time I picked out an obscure death industrial project that was only available on yt and this one held something different, it had such an atmosphere that I could describe well enough without even taking the time to close my eyes, it is easily displayed on the cover and the sound of the project through its distortion. The production consisted of this industrial mix, some electronics/synthesizers to build the atmosphere sometimes, the dark ambience and more that ... read more
This album felt longer than 25 minutes, an absolute consistent sound of ambience all around and the mix of samples mostly, there is also some mixes of synths or synthesizers. The rhythms and atmospheres created on these unique ambient soundscapes through the scenery of samples. It is very extravagant and I never thought ambient and epic collage could work together so well, 95/100.
More epic collage, this time one of the most highly regarded albums of the genre, I deadass have been aching to listen to this ever since TLTYGMTSY, this album almost has the same exact genres AND length of that except this is also Indigenous Andean Music and this record is 4 minutes longer, still the same tho and I’ve been just about as hyped. It is worth the hype I will say that. The mixing of the electronics, flute, pipes, accordion, guitars, synths and etc are much more diverse and ... read more
Electro house has always been stereotyped by many to be just one of those sounds that sound like yt intros but in hind sight, this album basically just proves that entirely wrong. All the sound is basically compiled of is electronics, house rhythms ofc and vocal mix’s, it is all that is needed to compose such an epic and awesome record. It had such an internet sound too, it overall progressively builds up these soundscapes of all these mixes I said before to make what is the best example ... read more
I forgot to review this wtf, I swear I had reviewed this but for some reason I didn’t, that’s so dumb but anyways. This was absolutely harrowing and dark. The progression on this record was just incredible, it was like an iceberg, the lower you go, the more darker it gets but this time it is a darkness that is beyond my comprehension or anybody’s comprehension. The dark ambience and drone that mostly carries as well as the other eerie adding production is just consistent. As ... read more
This was insane, GWBOF was arguably more accessible than this imo I mean no wonder people pick this to start with on their discography, I should’ve too. An absolute unhinged journey throughout the entire album, the vocals displayed the haunting and uncanny nature and the production really set in and did some incredible stuff. The electronics and brass instrumentals, the experimentation ofc was all there. It all captures this disturbing image or relationship and the downward slope of the ... read more
5 albums in one day for the 3rd time. One of the most graceful and diverse post rock albums I’ve heard, no doubt and it’s evident with the sound, at first I thought I was gonna get some crazy atmospheres but instead I got entirely diverse experimental soundscapes all around and it’s consistent nature is shown form the instrumentals like: drums, guitars, synths, electronics, chimes, xylophone, along with ambience. It’s a lot of production that is brought out to make this ... read more
Back at it with more shabazz palaces, one of the cleanest I’ve ever seen experimental hip hop done from Black Up, this album though, yea it wasn’t better, it wasn’t bad but I was expecting a bit more, this still did good tho. The experimental mixing on here was on it, the vocals and flow matched the production and sampling was clean. The production mostly consisted of the drums/808s, synths, electronics and all the rest that was all manipulated to make this sound. The only ... read more
When I tell you I was missing out on this project. The first time I listened to this when I first got into Peggy I was like NOPE not my style. It is fucking absurd that now after all the music I’ve listened to, coming back to this after it being spun on the wheel of albums, it was one hell of a pick. This project has something very special, something unlike all of his projects and it is the mix of 808s/drums and electronics/synths mostly, the sampling is just top tier as well, everything ... read more
Another short heater, there is a reason why it’s called epic collage. This album was unlike anything I’ve heard electronic-wise or otherwise just overall and ik I’ve said that with so many albums, but this one, it’s something else. The production including the drums, piano, synths, electronics, pretty much everything and the vocals/sampling plus miscellaneous are all made up on each track to make for this chaotic bunch or something big, it’s super in your face. ... read more
First time listening to Ethel Cain, I have heard of hear a few times before and mostly from the album Perverts. This record was quite different than what I expected it to sound like, I said before that I thought this would sound mellow and dreamy in which most instances it did, but it felt more ethereal if anything and it displayed the spoon-feed narrative very well, anybody can easily understand what’s really going on here, a tasteless act of rape and all that nasty stuff that she ... read more
Listened to 5 albums in one day once again, this was the last one to listen to and I wanted to make it a short one because why not. The sampling on this project despite being short of about 25 minutes is absolutely incredible, the sampling of the piano, horns, synths, and etc all tend to match the energy or composition of the drums and 808s that was produced from Mach, his flow of his vocals/lyrics were persistent and fit the flow of the sound overall. I would tell you what he says or quote ... read more
This has to be classified as blackgaze or doomgaze cause that’s what I’m getting outta of this. You would assume that this project is just like every other atmospheric black metal project at first, but the more you listen, the more it feels like it shouldn’t be classified as that lmfao. This project is just different, the progression is and the consistency definitely is. First things first is the production which I can easily talk about because it is just that consistent yet ... read more
CLASSIC REVIEW 16#: Pharoah Sanders does it once again with this progressive spiritual jazz classic. There is so much diversity just like black unity had. This project was definitely more visceral and alive but by a slim margin and it gets the classic notion so ofc imma say the biased thing that it’s better but you can say black unity is better all you want your welcome to, if anything I think they are BOTH just as good as each other. The drums, bass, synths, saxophone, tambourine, ... read more
CLASSIC REVIEW 15#: The production and vocals absolutely snapped need I say more, I absolutely love the dynamic and the mix of the drums, synths, samples, some bass, etc that are entirely within all of these tracks and overall this project is definitive hip hop classic. The flow of the vocals are just as consistent and the lyrics capturing the narrative or the display of their experiences in the hood. They capture it all using this style of production and vocals as well as just picturing what ... read more
This is the typa shit that I would imagine making back then when I was little but tenfold, I would still never be capable of making such an album like this because of its absolute visceral abilities and atmosphere plus creative/innovative ideas. The sampling is clean and the mix of the electronics/drums, at times guitars, synthesizers, and you name it, all in this project really do whatever and crate something special, especially some of the vocals that match the energy, even those flows. The ... read more
