Honestly kinda Bummed by this. While not bad, it is for sure their weakest. I appreciate them really branching out and trying new things, which is kinda crazy to say since this band is always trying new things, but it just doesn't do a lot for me.
While not exactly saving Rock and Roll, especially since this is a pop album, I have a lot of nostalgia towards this album and I still really like it. Surprised more songs didn't become hits. They are pretty formulaic and "poppy" but they are catchy enough for me to be somewhat of a guilty pleasure. The music video series also adds a lot to the songs and album overall, as over the top as they are.
One of the most well crafted atmospheric adventures of the past decade with ridiculously punchy production and heavy themes
One of the most technically impressive albums I have ever heard. The guitar composition is ridiculous and I can't even imagine the recording process for some of the songs like Thot 2.0 and Chapter II. The drums are incredible and compliment the technical guitar and crazy song structures. Great vocal features and beautiful guitar solos help bring the compositions to life.
You would never imagine that Quadeca would release one of the most cohesive and depressing records I've heard in a while. The lyrics strike hard and the concept is tragic but beautiful.
One of my favorite albums from 2023 and the last piece of music I enjoyed from the band before they became more typical death metal. This album is riffy, angry, and thematic. There is clear intent behind the lyrics and their message is heard loud and clear. The vocals are disgusting and disturbing in the best way possible. If you like extremely heavy music, this album is for you.
A decent EP from Mirrors, setting the stage up for the fantastic "Ego's Weight."
Easily the most insane instrumentals of any metalcore album so far this year and I'm sure that will stand til the end of the year. While I am a little disappointed that the Album only gave us 3 new tracks, not including the interlude, I like that they released the singles in chapters, which gives the album an overall theme. This makes the album feel like the final chapter. I like the use of ambience and the incorporation of trap and electronic motifs mixed with the MIRAR/THALL inspired ... read more
These 5 tracks are better than Stigma and Pressure Combined. Great way to comeback to their original sound with obvious modern elements with really low tuned guitars and pitch shifters. I also really like how the EP starts and ends with the swamp noises adding a sense of immersion and theme to the EP. Definitely the heaviest thing Wage War has put out so far and I look forward to more music in this direction.
A very enjoyable listen with many songs added to the playlist. Nothing revolutionary, but sonically pleasing
My favorite Tech Death band is back with a new release after 5 years. Was it worth the wait, yes for the most part. The guitarwork and melody choices as always are fantastic and huge earworms, even for people not super into this genre. Atonement Denied is basically an extreme metal version of "I got 5 on it" which was awesome. While I enjoy every song, I feel like this project is a slight step back when it comes to songwriting. The songs are pretty straightforward for the most part ... read more
While not their most impressive release in my opinion, I had a blast listening to this and it will for sure go down as one of the most fun albums of the year. The albums flows so well and cohesively and the band shows growth and new ideas mixed in with their iconic and impressive sound. As a fan, I am very happy with this record.
One of my favorite indie rock albums ever and in my opinion one of the best. Vibes are unmatched.
Not quite as revolutionary or as mind-blowing as the poetic edda, but a great follow up nonetheless.
This album unfortunately is the definition of mid. Bruno Mars' first miss in my books. Other than the last track, nothing really caught my attention and felt pretty formulaic. I appreciate the implementation of Latin/classical sounding production, but he doesn't really do anything special with it.
