Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
100

A perfect blend of Neo soul, Rap, and RNB cementing Lauryn as one of the best ever with just a single album.

ERRA - Augment

Progressive Metalcore at its finest here. Impulse was great, but everything on this album was a step up. The song structures are unpredictable, the heavy moments are heavier, the production is super ahead of its time and sounds like it came it this year, and the musicianship is some of the tightest I have heard on an album. This album helped define me as a guitar player and a metal listener.

Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl

My thighs were clamped while listening to this album.

Clipse - Let God Sort Em Out
95

Clipse is finally back with their best release to date. Fantastic lyrics and storytelling, with the darkest sounding beats and cadences I've heard from both Pusha and Malice. Great features, great production as always from Pharrell. Just a banger album overall.

All That Remains - Antifragile

I saw many people say this just sounded like Dad rock and I can definitely understand that. However, I actually enjoyed this record. Any band that has Jason Richardson in it will put out a solid album with stellar guitarwork. Also the drums were fantastic, but it's the ex drummer for shadow of intent so no surprise there. Really fun old school sounding metalcore with a fun modern twist.

Sleep Token - Even in Arcadia
50

I want to start off by saying I first heard sleep token back in 2018-2019 when the offering/sundowning came out. I always liked them but never loved them. I found their music enjoyable and listened to them on occasion. I like them, but don't love them. I have nothing against anyone who really enjoys their music, same with people who do not enjoy them at all. Regardless of how you feel and how I feel. I thought this album was alright. Some songs like Even in Arcadia and Gethsemane are just ... read more

Travis Scott - Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight
55

Not terrible but for sure the weakest project in his discography

Nik Nocturnal - The Lost Chapters
75

As a classic core kid, this album was definitely made for people like me. While not perfect, I think it really captures that old-school sounds well with great instrumentals and features. Sad to see Nik taking a break, but it was cool to see a lot of riffs and guitarwork from his videos over the years turn into full length songs and eventually an EP.

Job for a Cowboy - Moon Healer
80

Job for a cowboy for me was always a guilty pleasure when it came to deathcore. Tracks like Knee deep still bang regardless of the shitty production. When I heard they were making a return, I was expecting a sound similar to that. What we ended up getting was so much greater than that. As a guitar nerd, I was very excited. Glad to see that the album lived up to the hype the singles brought.

Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere
85

Never been a death metal fan, but this hits different. While I don't see myself coming back to this project too often, I really appreciate the versatility and uniqueness of this record, never heard anything quite like it.

16 minute ass pounding

Dreamwake - The Lost Years
65

Musically, the album is pretty solid and impressive, with great guitarwork and solid implementation with the sax and synthe-work. The singles had me very excited, especially Heatwave and Oasis, and was looking forward to the different sounds they would try out on the album. They did not try out other sounds. Almost every song is in the same key with constant synthe and sax solos that do not sound much different from the others on the album. Overall not bad, but was definitely underwhelmed.

Amira Elfeky - Surrender

The whole ep is just a big earworm and gives that nostalgic nu metal vibe. Forever overdose and Will you love me when I'm dead were on repeat for a while.

JID - God Does Like Ugly
85

It was going to be hard to top the Forever story. That album is timeless and one of the best rap albums of the 2020's. While I don't think this album is just as good, I do think it shows JID's versatility and how far he's willing to push the rap game with different sounds and flows. This all really works for me and I really appreciate his willingness to push the boundaries.

Invent Animate - Bloom in Heaven
70

it's kinda hard to rate an EP with only 3 songs tbh. 1st song bangs, 2nd song never listened to again, 3rd song also bangs. 7/10 because 2/3 songs bang

Hollow Front - The Fear of Letting Go
80

I'm really surprised people weren't really into this album. I personally loved it. I'm really impressed how they were able to create their best album even after Dakota left. The guitarwork is sick, the vocals are great, and the song structures while pretty formulaic, are enjoyable and done right. The production is tight, and the lyrics are great. I used to not be a lyric guy at all, but now if they resonate with me, it makes me fall in love with the album more. Totally fine for ... read more

Eidola - Eviscerate
80

Surprised a lot of people don't like this album. It's Djenty Swancore, how are we hating on this. Riffs are sick and the songs are fun structurally.

Eidola - The Architect
80

A great swancore effort by eidola seperating themselves from other artists like DGD and hail the sun.

Dance Gavin Dance - Mothership
80

In my opinion, THE swancore album and a must listen for any swancore fans/DGD fans. Beautiful instrumentals and fun vocals from both Tilian and Jon.

Periphery - Periphery IV: HAIL STAN
80

While not my favorite record from them, it is still somehow so consistently great. Reptile is a masterpiece, and songs like garden in the bones and Satellites are damn near masterpieces as well. Songs like Crush and CHVRCH BVRNER are not so my thing, but all the other songs are great.
