Incredibly underrated. Out of all of Opeth's pure progressive rock albums (including Damnation mind you) this is handily the best. Can’t believe it took me this long to get round to this album some fantastic stoner metal. Great way to prep for the new record they’ve got out. Riffs for days with some fantastic production to back it up great performances all over this album.
Was very impressed by this one. Peaks in the middle of the album with track 4 which is some excellent black metal gonna have to check out their eps.
Lives up to the previous album for the most part and i even think that parts it are actually an improvement. I think most Caminhos de Água nails the acoustic instruments playing atmospheric black metal inspired music marginally better than Inpariquipê. The drums are a tad quieter which allows the rest of the music on the album to be heard much more clearly. Its still a wall of sound but it's a wall in which individual things are easier to decipher. A classic of my dads cd collection. First 2/3 of this record are great although it does unfortunately peak with the opener (Head Home is also excellent). Section is definitely worse in terms of its signwriting buts its still good just never really hitting the heights if those first 7 songs.
Definitely not as weird as I’ve seen some people say it is but great performances all over this thing. So many fun ideas, was a big fan of the song that was basically a polka and the album got surprisingly heavy at points. Only criticism would be that the record feels a little thin at times but apart from that it’s very consistent and very fun.
