Opeth - Pale Communion

Incredibly underrated. Out of all of Opeth's pure progressive rock albums (including Damnation mind you) this is handily the best. A lot of people talk about Opeth losing a lot of the atmosphere that characterised the bands work pre heritage which I don't necessarily think is true at least when it come to Pale Communion. This album is absolutely dripping with atmosphere and does a fantastic job of maintaining it throughout the albums near hour long runtime. It is a slightly different ... read more

Can’t believe it took me this long to get round to this album some fantastic stoner metal. Great way to prep for the new record they’ve got out. Riffs for days with some fantastic production to back it up great performances all over this album.

Was very impressed by this one. Peaks in the middle of the album with track 4 which is some excellent black metal gonna have to check out their eps.

A classic of my dads cd collection. First 2/3 of this record are great although it does unfortunately peak with the opener (Head Home is also excellent). Section is definitely worse in terms of its signwriting buts its still good just never really hitting the heights if those first 7 songs.

Angine de Poitrine - Vol.II

Definitely not as weird as I’ve seen some people say it is but great performances all over this thing. So many fun ideas, was a big fan of the song that was basically a polka and the album got surprisingly heavy at points. Only criticism would be that the record feels a little thin at times but apart from that it’s very consistent and very fun.

If you’re someone who was introduced to Avant Prog from this album would definitely recommend anything by Samla Mammas Manna or if ... read more
