Rochelle Jordan - Through The Wall
76

This sounds like the sonic interpretation of silk. Just pleasant to your senses in a lot of ways. It's a fairly consistent LP with some few gems scattered here and there. It shows class while not shying away with the House genre experimentation, it makes for a good listening experience.

Favorite Tracks: Ladida, The Boy, Doing It Too, Bite The Bait, Crave, Sweet Sensation [❤️], Around

Low Roar - 0
95

This album nails that somber and melancholic tone it pours into the lyricism and instrumentation. Feels like a cascading wave covering you whole, and all you can do is float around and take every following wave that hits you. It's very beautiful and refined with a bit of something for everyone to confide in. It doesn't let up on its momentum. It can slow down its mood to really set in such a sorrowful display, or amp up the beat to create a bittersweet atmosphere. It ties down the ... read more

The National - Cherry Tree
84

LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS
A really monumental turning point in The National's discography, and overall a very good EP to boot. It also manages to include two of my all-time favorite tracks from this artist. I recommend checking this out if you've been loving their LPs.

Favorite Tracks: All the Wine, All Dolled-Up in Straps, Cherry Tree (this is that other favorite track), About Today [❤️], Murder Me Rachael

Ciśnienie - [angry noises]
93

Holy fuck, this is one intense LP. I was familiar of Ciśnienie through JazzArt Underground, a groundbreaking noise rock album for the modern era. I admittedly haven't kept up with the remainder of their discography, but after this output, I feel like I've been missing out. This does not hold back any punches, push any brakes, nor does it tip toe around the creaky floorboards. No, this is unapologetically explosive euphoria of instrumentals of mixing to an epic proportion. It's ... read more

Sabrina Carpenter - Man's Best Friend
61

I am....whelmed. I didn't expect too much going into the surrounding hype, controversy, "you name it" of this album's release. But Sabrina Carpenter is usually no slouch when it comes to radio hits you can play over and over again. Her last album absolutely sent shockwaves to varying degrees, depending if you either are a big fan of hers, or at least are close to someone who is. While I feel her previous project was a bit too overly-panned by critics, this one doesn't ... read more

Mellow Candle - Swaddling Songs
78

I don't know exactly how, or when, or even why, but this did pop up on my recommendations via the YouTube algorithm. And I gotta say, it's pretty neat. It's that atmospheric folky which takes leaps of instrumental experimentation for something almost hallucinogenic. The production is rough around the edges, which I think both troubles it, as well as adds on to its musical themes. From the album cover to the listen, its what I would envision whenever I have a random cold sweat ... read more

Casiopea - Mint Jams
90

This is one live-album that is so refined, so careful, that you will easily mistake this as a studio album. The production is so crisp and really top notch. It also feels so effortless too, as if all the members came together with a well-put together plan and knew how to perform their talents to their highest efficiency. This album absolutely gives the Jazz Fusion genre a good name. From the bass performance that seeps into the keyboard instrumentation, to the jamming vibes that is absolutely ... read more

Casiopea - TRUE BLUE
80

A pleasant return to form. Casiopea still showcases their artistic prowess within the Jazz Fusion genre. It feels almost seamless how they still maintain a good and consistent quality after all these years of performing their hearts out. TRUE BLUE brings a lot of their staple qualities to the table and makes up as a mesmerising and mind-numbing experience. I feel what can hold this record back is the lack of ambition towards making leaps of faith when wanting to stand alone from their previous ... read more

Blood Orange - Essex Honey
75

Essex Honey is certainly a thought-provoking album. In which it does make you think afterwards of what you just listened to. No, not in a bad way. Rather, it's yourself trying to make sense of how the mixing, lyricism and decision-making that went into its production comes together and share its message with the general public. It's honestly an endearing ambition to tackle, and it makes the listen rather a refreshing one. I do think it can lean a bit too much into the abstract nature ... read more

Coaltar of the Deepers - Submerge
93

Of all Coaltar of the Deepers' LPs, this remains their most consistently amazing project to date. It eases you into their direction of sound and performance at a soothing pace. You're in for a ride that really matches the album title well; submerging. You are submerging to an eternal shoegaze bliss. The tracklist compliments each other very well while still not letting up of its adrenaline. It may be the least intensive Coaltar project that I've heard, however that isn't a ... read more

Coaltar of the Deepers - No Thank You
89

Such a bombastic and alternative staple in the Shoegaze genre. This album doesn't shy away from experimentation of the genre we've grown to love. This makes a vivid experience when listening to it, almost in the way of a hyper fever dream that you are a supporting role for. There's a lot to dissect from track to track, because it can and will throw you into a loop. Almost on your toes. This album is never complacent and will give you a mind-melting experience. It sways from ... read more

Coaltar of the Deepers - Yukari Telepath
82

Coaltar of the Deepers lean in on the more Metal side of their musical discography within this LP, which makes for an enticing and still high-energy output you'd expect from the band. However, they still do not shy away from the shoegaze-y tracks from time to time, with tracks such as Water Bird or Evil Line. Admittedly, this is more my preferred style of music that I've come to appreciate the most from the band, however I still welcome their heavier output as they do make it fairly ... read more

Coaltar of the Deepers - Come Over to the Deepend
87

This is fantastic. It's a blend of genres that work together so well and are able to captivate your attention almost immediately. It's aware of its own mighty presence and doesn't let the fuel in the tank go to waste. Even if you're not so drawn into the noisy and alternative rock soundscape, this is definitely an album to watch out for, especially if you want a different listening experience from your usual playlists.

Damien Rice - O
95

This album makes my heart sink into a warm and velvet-like slumber......maybe I should get a check-up. Oh well, regardless of the side effects, this is a gorgeous singer-songwriter album. Damien Rice pours in deep and meaningful lyricism that evokes such a powerful and emotional response towards us, the listeners.

His range perfects the sonic essence of a cozy environment to coaxed you into a false sense of security, before he introduces many sorrowful storytelling. It keeps you alert and ... read more

Al Green - Let's Stay Together
78

A soulful staple on not just Al Green's audience but the evolution of modern history as a whole. It's hard not to get cascaded my the smooth vocals and rustic instrumentation of Let's Stay Together that has certainly influenced many artists that have succeeded his legacy. It's a footnote worth listening to and truly understand how became such a household name in the 70s and beyond. It is a product of its time and may not seem as groundbreaking as other records during this ... read more

Coldplay - Music of the Spheres
35

How did we get here? I'm just in awe on how vapid as a whole this project is. Not even a hint of subtlety of how mismanaged this mostly feels. The only real thing about this album is that at least the band themselves seemed like they had fun recording this, much to the disappointment of many. Coloratura is a highlight of course, but that alone doesn't salvage an entire album.

Favorite Tracks: Humankind, Coloratura [❤️]

Coldplay - Everyday Life
63

The thematic approach of this project do propel Coldplay into achieving more compelling song writing with down-to-earth undertones that bring out genuinely refreshing storytelling. The tracks do fluctuate in terms of levels of quality. However it's overall a fairly solid and honest output. I'm sure on the return value it may have at the moment, but for the songs that do manage to stick, I can potentially see a revisit some years down the line if I'm in the mood for the newer ... read more

Coldplay - A Head Full of Dreams
51

The ambitions of this record are solely misplaced are what you end up with is a hodgepodge of empty pop songs amidst some decent hits. Not among what the best of what the band has to offer, but stuff you can certainly revisit. With that said, it's not offensive and overall serves as a perfectly middle-of-the-road mixed bag you can play once on a road trip and get a few jams out of.

Favorite Tracks: Hymn for the Weekend, Everglow [❤️], Adventure of a Lifetime

Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto
48

Mylo Xyloto is an unfortunate case of being solely underwhelming in its attempt to be this Pop euphoria it cannot bring itself to become. Not to say that the highlights aren't worth checking out. In cases, they really do land well, but often times they're fairly dull, and in isolated incidents, very obnoxious. What this album lacks is that passion, and it really shows because it's really hollow with a thinly veiled fabric of fun tacked on. It's honestly a real shame and this ... read more

A Tribe Called Quest - We got it from Here... Thank You 4 Your service
97

Track after track? More like masterpiece after masterpiece! Oh my, is this album consistently hitting its strive. There's not a single dull moment, or even lesser good moment. It's so leveled in its near perfection. A grand finale to A Tribe Called Quest's legacy. And oh man has it been a constant discharge of fireworks and confetti with this one.

Its one of those rare cases where I can genuinely buy that any track, and I mean ANY TRACK, can be someone's favorite. It's ... read more
