J. Cole - 4 Your Eyez Only
73

They got the formatting all wrong for this project: this is no LP. 4YEO, imo, plays out more so like an audiobook of sorts. I feel like Cole is so dedicated to telling James’ story that it sometimes detracts from how good the album actually sounds, which, given how heavy and important of a story it is, I can’t really blame him for.

I lowkey feel like this project has a better, more digestible call to action for brining about positive change in the black community than TPAB. ... read more

xaviersobased - Xavier
76

I love it when an artist grows on me as I’m listening to their album. I’ve never heard anything from Xavier before, so at the beginning I was a little skeptic, but at the end of this very consistent track list the sound was making complete sense.

By Storm - My Ghosts Go Ghost
80

Such a unique listen. It took me a few go arounds to even grasp what was happening in these tracks.

This album is so freaking experimental I’m not even sure what to say about it. The second half is amazing, the first half not as much. The worst moments on this lp are when the production is so ambient and lofi it almost feels empty, and the best moment by far is Double Trip 2. What a song.

J. Cole - BIRTHDAY BLIZZARD '26
74

Bro is so incredibly locked rn

Roc Marciano - 656
60

The first Roc Marciano I’ve heard, this started off suprisingly strong but by track 8 I was ready for it to be over.

Travis Scott - Days Before Rodeo
74

Acts as an artistic bridge between Owl Pharaoh and Rodeo, and holds up pretty dang well today.

Superheaven - Jar
76

The instrumentation is great but the vocals are pretty hit or miss. It’s crazy how hard they locked in for Youngest Daughter, it’s so good it actually sounds like it’s from a completely different album.

Benny the Butcher - The Plugs I Met
80

Benny’s gotta be my favorite Griselda rapper, it’s actually not even close

DJ Screw - Chapter 180 - 3 'n the Mornin': Part Two [Blue]
93

This is my favorite 90s hip-hop project. It just sounds like how 100 degrees Fahrenheit feels, know what I’m saaayin also the transitions between songs are incredible

Slowdive - Souvlaki
86

Shoegaze is a genre I’ve been interested in for a while now, but I’ve never taken the time to hear a shoegaze project until now.

And yeah, this was great. I have no idea who Slowdive are, and the amount of highly rated shoegaze albums on this site is a little intimidating, but this was overall a great introduction to the shoegaze sound.

Radiohead - In Rainbows
97

“Oh dear, Oh dear. Gorgeous.”
-Gordon Ramsay

IDK - e.t.d.s. A Mixtape by .idk.
70

First time hearing IDK, was definitely worth the listen.

Che - closed captions
81

This is a very good trap album, and that’s becoming increasingly more difficult to find in the modern hip-hop landscape.
It’s cool to see the potential Che had, and I’m glad he was able to take this sound and evolve it into something more boundary pushing.

69

I’d call this album Che’s growing pains in transitioning into a more rage-y sound.

A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb [Reissue]

SpaceGhostPurrp - Blvcklvnd Rvdix 66.6 (1991)

ZVPRISINGLY XN INCRVDIBLY XNJVYVBLX LIZTXN WITH INZVNX RXPLVY VXLVX.

Vince Staples - Big Fish Theory
77

BagBak and SAMO are far away my two favorite Vince songs. Beats are hard as bricks and he absolute murders them.
As for the other tracks, they’re cool but definitely a lot more forgettable.

Also Yeah Right is really overrated, the beat sounds experimental and very bass heavy but not in a good way.

Denzel Curry - 13
66

Wow, whoever features on the last track is really good. I’m sure he has a normal, accessible, hip-hop centered discography.

SALEM - I'm Still in the Night
83

Witch House production scratches my brain harder than any other genre does. Like, the first to two tracks are so perfect. However, I URGE these guys to stay away from rapping.

Also it’s crazy how much better Daydre4m is than Baby Ratta. Hearing the original now feels so empty.

A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb
77

A$AP Rocky is my all time favorite musical artist. There’s just something about the confidence he exudes in his flow and the suprisingly amazing beat selection and artistic curation he puts into his art for such a mainstream artist. In my opinion, he’s never released an album worse than a 9/10…
…Until now. But I don’t really think that’s a problem. After an 8 year hiatus, I wasn’t expecting my goat to come back in the generational form he was in from ... read more
