Joey is I think my second favorite artist of all time right behind outkast, and as ive sat with 2000 I see it as a testiament to everything thats made joey that consistant. (I mean literally the Nas cosign that so fing cool man)
Theirs some sort of closeness that Joey can bring to a track, for example show me; That one of the most emotionally resonant rap songs ive ever heard honestly, it feels so real to me.
The way Joey connects his sense of brotherhood and love of his city somehow connects ... read more
Lil Nas X's career trajectory is still fing crazy to me, it still kinda shocks me how from old townroad -> montero he defied like every expectation.
Very interesting album.
Gambinos never been on one my favorites, but he always been an artist im really interested to see where they go. Gambino kinda reminds me of Tyler or Ye in a certain way, where he just kinda has the mind of a creative, and even if he isnt as consistent as those 2, he still has a lot of skill vocally and a usually interesting artistic vision. I think that adventurousness really shows on this album.
Its starts off with a track id more expect from like peggy, but gambino ... read more
I had no clue who porter was going into this, but this is pretty damn great! love the soundscape so much, found it really captivating. Multiple songs i think are in contention for song of the year.
: D
Honestly its not as bad as i expected. mgks voice still sucks but everything was set up for this to be a 0 but im not feeling that
"tic tac toe that p*ssy, tell my x I o that p*ssy" how tf does weezy keep doing it
Weezy with the fortnite bars ( he carried the song! )
Okay, i completely missed the tory lanez saga, i was never a fan of him so i didnt really gaf to learn exactly what he did, iirc he did some fucked up stuff to megan?
Song wise, ill say while its "impressive" this is on a prison phone, songs still bad .
So many f*ng i onic lines ima just let them speak
"And let her know her grandchild is a baby and not a pay check"
"On the oak tree, I hope we feel like this forever
Forever, forever ever? Forever ever?"
"So know this, know that everything’s cool
And yes, I will be present on the first day of school and graduation"
"So who you placin' the blame on? You keep on singin' the same song
Let bygones be bygones and you can go on and get the hell ... read more
86->95 finally relistened and its even better than before
Such, such a beautiful album. Adrianne is easily one of the best songwriters ive heard in her lane all time. Combined with her voice that has this gentle but strong tone that just commands some power, its really can get me emotions. Whenever she says something it just rips away at a part of you, and it feels effortless in a way, like a stream of this just powerful melody coming out of her.
I love this thing so much
Ok i just wanna talk about how crazy it is the Ye made such a hard song that he can say THAT line and it still goes this damn hard
Okay so I really didnt know where cordae was at artisticially in 2024, id only heard the lost boy, but this is really good.
Great great sample its got that classic feeling. Cordae was kinda a little more basic then i would have liked lyricially, but his flow was really great.
That lighter flick was niceee, smooth verse from weezy dont love the autotune fully but I cant complain when weezy was really going off, and his inflections in spots was nice asf
-decided to just count the deluxe songs on my review here cause like tf is ds2 without FUSC-
Ds2 is I the greatest trap album ever made. Every beats on here is hard and murky asf, i feel entranced in this dark world created. Futures preformances are at an all time most engaging. His voice is just so powerful and dark , the aura he commands is so notable.
The way its start with thought it was a drought, is such a crazy tone setter, scary beat, and probably futures most iconic line ever. ... read more
Quavos a bit more versatile then i realized, cool underrated project.
Its a quavo project, its obviously got some filler, but this is suprisingly pretty consistent, and introspective and heartfelt , backed by great production.
I knew patty cake and greatness were amazing songs going into this, but i was really impressed with how close quavo made me feel on a song like "hold me" which is far from a typical quavo song.
Quavos spends a good chunk of this album being introspective about ... read more
Circles is one of these album that just feels like a warm hug, and like fuck its powerful.
Its just this beautiful little homely project, the way mac talks never feels like to much, he just feels like hes still their for you comforting you in the best way possible, and knowing hes dead that fucks with me, because I feel so much hope here.
This is really the most sad but powerful way macs career could end, theirs not a moment im not allured in this project. Good news has made me cry more than ... read more
