one of the best singles of 2023 i wish it got more attention.
Paak is just such a captivating vocalist whether hes rapping like on battlefield or singing hes just so easy to latch on to.

This album seconds half is pretty awful, but ill say this projects definately got its songs, I really liked track 2 for example.
Production wise i get he was trying to go more mainstream, but i just dont think it works with lupes delivery. Lupe cannot pull off the dancey dream vibe pn something like "its not design"

Okay so honestly, im still kinda at a loss for words of what exactly i should say on this. Drogas wave is a 1hr 40 minutes oddysey and is one of the densest and most interesting concept albums of all time. I kinda struggle to describe whats exactly going on, but lupe is very good lyricially and the guest vocals across this project are great.

ah aquemini, when i originally got into music this was my og favorite album. And revisiting it now as more of a critic ill say, its still peak (prolly like my 4th favorite now?)
Big Boi and Andres chemistry is so natural, and Big Bois braggadocio and confidence really roots andres more adventurous verses to where i feel like its still feels human. Not to says andre carries, Big Boi has some of the coolest quotables ive heard.

Okay so i wanna say this project is superrrr smooth. The sound is so cohesive but vibrant. Loved the way this thing was directed production wise.
Now I cant say I disliked a song but like, ig it didnt leave a strong impession on me, like besides Do 2 me and maybe the gambino track none of the other tracks really like wowed me, I was vibin but I didnt feel nothing crazy. Everyone showed up, but I didnt feel nothing crazy

I generally think steez and joey always had a lot more emotional presence and their passion shined through in ways I dont see in some other boombap rappers. 1999 addresses from multiple directions of joeys mindset.
I feel like you can really here joeys passion on hardknock, his denial of his heartbreak in pennyroyal is so relatable, his drive on survival tactics rivals people like nas.
And i think thats griselda literally biggest problem, westside gunn is so immensly talented, but I feel like he always raps in the same exact way, I know who westside gunn is as a rapper, but I dont feel that inner motivation that makes him tick as a person."
