Denzel Curry - King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2

(58->61 slight bump hoodlumz regrew on me)

Damn this gonna be one of my biggest hot takes ive made on here in a minute.

Im not as crazy on denzel as some people, but I still always find his music enjoyable, so i was excited going into this project, but I just found this project super monotonous and repetitive.
Their are some highlights, but I feel like Denzel played it too simple. Beats are ok but not like shocking me, and i found denzels flows so so so basic. Then the hooks are just the ... read more

Eminem - The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)
65

Rewriting my review, because i think i looked at this album from the wrong perspective honestly, i gave it a 40 originially, and while i cant give it higher than a 65, i think this thing is really interesting.

Cool concept, not fully realized but I kinda like it.
Eminem has kinda lost the benefit of the doubt in the community (fair) which is part of why i think this is being perceived so poorly by a lot of people, and originially that's how i perceived it to, but I think you really just ... read more

Yo guys, so eminems dropping Friday and I know thats a big cultural moment for hiphop, but also make sure to check out Blu & Evidences collab album "los angeles" dropping that same night!

Anyways the single: Cute sample, nice instruments, very compelling rapping, i just wish a little bit more was happening though

My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade
95

I dont know if theirs another album from the 2000's that feels this damn iconic, and like, I was born after this album, i dont have any nostalgia for it, but like it just feels like I should for some reason.

Theater core as fuck, but this thing is so damn grand. Feels like a whole play is going on, I can really like visually picture this whole album and the storyline of the character I think its cool asf.
I mean like what can i say that hasnt been said. The trackWelcome to the black ... read more

Anderson .Paak - Malibu
85

Paaks an artist ive been meaning to check out his catalog for the longest time, his artistic package is basicially everything I love in music.
Paak is like alarmingly smooth, I dont understand how he sounds so cool, but paak also has a lot to say lyricially its a great mix. Paak feels like hed be a really cool grandpa to tell you old stories while sitting next to a fire if you feel me.
Hes got a great voice for singing, and even sounds good when he leans into a rapping bag.
Paak also is never ... read more

Woahhhhh
Im not a good reviewer of this type of music because i find it harder to draw comparisons to other artist, so ill keept this short but this is a fun album.
I think vocally its pretty cool. Theyve got a pretty interesting voice that inflection wise kinda reminds me of some old pop-punk vocalist I was into, pretty nostalgic feeling. The vocals are mixed pretty cool I think its creates a really fun effect.

Sound wise in general this give me some shoegaze elements but mixed with like ... read more

Eminem - Tobey

Okay i revisted this cause I think i was unfair to it actually.
I think way they all merge with this cool type of confidence is really cool, and I think babytron and big sean have a lot of really cool lyrical chemistry with the star wars bars.
Big Sean specificially has a lot of really witty one liners.
Now eminems, hes kinda doing the dumb "ima a legend" thing which I dont love, but his flows not that choppy and i think its pretty good i sound, the belt line was wild.
I hated the ... read more

The Weeknd - After Hours

Ight ight its a 10

Lets just state it Abels a really good singer. Like genuinely stunning the power and emotion in his voice can't be understated.
The melodies he takes are just somethinng else...
Now onto the production, I think some of the best albums are the ones that make you feel like youre in a certain place. Good Kid makes you feel like youre watching a movie, die lit feels like a mosh pit at a crazy concert, honor killed the samurai takes you back in time to the era of the ... read more

Mach-Hommy - #RICHAXXHAITIAN
75

Mach hommy is an interesting rapper, and his breed of conscious lyricism is virtually unmatched in the modern scene. With amazing production, and great samples like on padon(same sample was also used on conways recent album on "vertino") its a pretty captivating sound.
Id say machs big heel is he isn't very dynamic usually, I found the solo tracks to get a lil monotomous after the 2:30 mark because I dont find mach a completely captivating solo mc. But thats not too big of a ... read more

"@B307 ithink i see what you mean, mix isnt something that you really affect my personal listening experience unless its genuinely trash like on jik but i can hear what youre saying on here. Yeah pennyroyals def high school shit, the songs less about the breakup itself and more about how joey struggles to process it because he doesnt really understand what she meant to him, again high school shit, but i think theirs a power to that youthful energy when it forced to be humbled, i guess i see it relatable in like a high schoolish way"

"@B307 ty! been meaning to check out liquid sqords, so yeah ill prolly review that soon! I generally think steez and joey always had a lot more emotional presence and their passion shined through in ways I dont see in some other boombap rappers. 1999 addresses from multiple directions of joeys mindset. I feel like you can really here joeys passion on hardknock, his denial of his heartbreak in pennyroyal is so relatable, his drive on survival tactics rivals people like nas. And i think thats griselda literally biggest problem, westside gunn is so immensly talented, but I feel like he always raps in the same exact way, I know who westside gunn is as a rapper, but I dont feel that inner motivation that makes him tick as a person."
