Cordae - Syrup Sandwiches
58

Listen im the first guys to glaze anything with joey on it, this just isnt all that exciting

Dro Kenji - EVIL TWIN
75

Dro kenji is kinda an artist i wrote off, he made "im rich now bitch" which while a huge guilty pleasure of mine, kidna sucks, and i never heard anything I loved from him, but this single is actually realllly solid

Nas - NASIR
45

cops shot the kids plays with some cool ideas but id be lying if anywhere else on this album really left me interested in the slightest

Joey Bada$$ - TEMPTATION
100

I recently revisited the album and All amerikkkan in general is a really underrated conscious project, but like holy dude joey is so good at pop-rap this shits so perfect, such a good tune with great messaging, this is what i want in mainstream conscious.

Adele - Skyfall
90

im starting think maybe adele knows how to sing good

El Cousteau - Words2LiveBy
70

Earls part is a lil weak in flow but the songs still hard regardless

Lil Wayne - Believe Me
95

one of waynes most legendary preformances i wish this got more love

Tyler, The Creator - CHROMAKOPIA
60

Am i the only that just feels like some of these songs kinda lack structure?
Especially noid which has really been growing off me, but I think while this project plays with a lit if cool ideas its not fully accessing all of them.
Though I will acknowledge I think: darling, i; like him; sticky; and hey janes are some of tylers best. I just dont think the whole track list lives up to that?

idk ill write a whole review later, ima stop rating things the day they release i hate that aspect of this ... read more

DC THE DON - REBIRTH
90

Biggest suprise of the year, but um dc the don just swiped my aoty?
I was genuinely suprised this guy isnt bigger, his blend of genres is genuinely so effortless but it all makes sense, hes swaps so smoothly. Hes also got one of the most powerful voices in the scene.
Whether it be a yeezus like song, or a just sweet basicially r&b song, it all has the execution behind it.
this is basicially what id imagine travis scott if he was a good mc would make, but dons an actually amazing vocalist ... read more

Imagine Dragons - LOOM
NR

Take me to the beach is impressive cause how do you make the idea of going to the beach stress inducing

Tyler, The Creator - Noid
74

kinda like more polished cherry bomb esque track but with a pretty unique song structure, not bad

Lil Wayne - Tha Carter III
80

Carter III is a classic beyond classics, it may have a few stumbles, but when this album is on theres nothing like it.
Waynes personality shines through in a way that I dont really think anyone can replicate, combined with his really creative way of putting simple things.
Take Dr Carter, a pretty light hearted track, where lil wayne take a role as a doctor, and talks as if hes "curing" the rap game. He has this really clever array of metaphors, and its such an interesting track. This ... read more

OutKast - B.O.B
100

Chaotic good in a song.
Is it a hot take to say big boi got andre in this song? Big bois verse is soooooo awesome, and dont get wrong me I like andres energy a lot and the ending of his verse is so perfect, but big bois verse fucking shreds here, that flow works way to well for how fast and packed it is, some of my favorite fast rapping ever.

OutKast - Idlewild
65

Outkast are my personal goats, #1 favorite artist ever, this is not goat material and thats just fact, compared to the other 5 this album isnt even slightly close. And realistically outkast conclusion with speakerboxx makes the most sense. But this was made as a soundtrack to the movie idlewild, and just lacks the ingenuity of other kast albums. Ill talk about the highlights real quick:
Mighty O- Fun classic sounding outkast song with interesting delivery from andre
Moris Brown: RIDICULOUSLY ... read more

Ka - The Thief Next to Jesus
90

Ive been meaning to write my reviews for this but it got away from me, I just heard he died. RIP to a great. 52 is to young...

Ka is flat out in my opinion the greatest lyricst of all time, better than lupe, nas, boldy, eminem, anyone. He made honor killed samurai, which I think is one of the most chilling and powerful albums ever made, and in 2024 he came back with a fire. The thief next to jesus is a self produced album with some of kas most vivid writing ever. As a farewell I could not ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - Section.80
70

I mean its cool, maybe just a little overrated. There are moments of genius like adhd/rigamortus but I think section 80 lacks the just amazing perspective that makes kendricks later music so generational. The hooks are also just a lot less consistant here. That being said this project has a lot of cool ideas, and i pretty unique take with the diary/book like format of the writing

redveil & Denzel Curry - pg baby (Remix)
90

I think i prefer the original to be honest, but this is still a lot of fun and makes a lot of sense.

Quadeca - I Didn't Mean to Haunt You
NR

im still forming my opinion on the whole project but fantasyworld does something to me like wtf

Travis Scott - SICKO MODE
100

I think hearing sicko mode for the first time is one of those moments that like youll always rememeber exactly where you were when it happened.

A$AP Ferg - Allure
75

woahhhh future that was legit insane beat could have beeen beyter

But yeah youre right its a form of satire fs"

"@B307 ithink i see what you mean, mix isnt something that you really affect my personal listening experience unless its genuinely trash like on jik but i can hear what youre saying on here. Yeah pennyroyals def high school shit, the songs less about the breakup itself and more about how joey struggles to process it because he doesnt really understand what she meant to him, again high school shit, but i think theirs a power to that youthful energy when it forced to be humbled, i guess i see it relatable in like a high schoolish way"

"@B307 ty! been meaning to check out liquid sqords, so yeah ill prolly review that soon! I generally think steez and joey always had a lot more emotional presence and their passion shined through in ways I dont see in some other boombap rappers. 1999 addresses from multiple directions of joeys mindset. I feel like you can really here joeys passion on hardknock, his denial of his heartbreak in pennyroyal is so relatable, his drive on survival tactics rivals people like nas. And i think thats griselda literally biggest problem, westside gunn is so immensly talented, but I feel like he always raps in the same exact way, I know who westside gunn is as a rapper, but I dont feel that inner motivation that makes him tick as a person."
