OK Computer is a painful experience for me listening again since a few years. It's isolating and sanitary soundscapes make it unnerving and almost void of feeling (in a good way). What makes it painfully emotional is Thom Yorke's vocals being virtually the only consistent human aspect to this album through and through - like a cry out in the midst of a disconnected and alienated political and social atmosphere perpetuated even more by technology.

Street Spirit is honestly one of Radiohead's best songs so this EP is definitely elevated because of that. The other songs prove that this is their most consistent EP/Single of this era as they are all quite good and moody - complementing the main single here. Talk Show Host is quite an iconic b side of theirs but to me as good as it initially is, I do feel its slight redundancy after a while. Still, it is one of their best b sides of this era for sure. Bishop's robes is very atmospheric and ... read more
Just is a great song but the format it's presented here makes it almost irrelevant as The Bends is the superior format to listen in. The other tracks, which are just remixes, are mildly compelling first because of planet telex's very alien sounding aesthetic and Killer Cars quieter instrumental backdrop, but once I got over this initial interest, I started to zone out during these tracks. It's okay overall but largely unspecial in their catalogue.
High and Dry and Planet Telex are fantastic songs. But since I could just go to the bends, I'm more interested in hearing the other tracks. Maquiladora is quite good - being a sort of 70s rock inspired song but with Thom's vocals giving it an emotional layering to it which I quite liked. the following remix of planet telex is decent but ultimately dated and just ok. The EP gets increasingly less interesting as it continues with Killer Cars - a song that feels unspecial to me as if it was a ... read more
One of their better early releases. It's clear from this EP that they had improved their song writing ability and created some nice, atmospheric tunes. Some of the tracks were more memorable than others but other than that it's solid all round. Really loved the tracks The trickster, Lewis, permanent daylight and of course my iron lung.
