It's not quite the birth of emo -- if anything, Rites of Spring found themselves saddled with that peculiar honor -- but it's easy enough to imagine more than a few '90s bands taking the words as holy writ.

As I continue my Dischord ventures I have been brought to yet another underrated Ian MacKaye band, Embrace. This one stems from a lot of the members associated with The Faith, which I covered not too long ago, and is yet another defining Emo album from Ian and Co. This is somehow scratching that Fugazi and The Clash itch with just how fun and groovy the music is here. Don't be fooled as so many have before - that band called "Embrace" that have an album called The Good Will Out are imposters to the throne. The REAL Embrace was an old DC band featuring Ian MacKaye post-Minor Threat and pre-Fugazi, along with three guys that Ian completely STOLE from The Faith, a band led by his poor defenseless brother Alec. Ahead of its time for the emo genre no doubt about it though I enjoy it much more a punk album instead of an emo album if that makes sense

Gee, I wonder who this funny guy is singing on this album? I doubt he'll ever do much more than this, but it's fun while it lasts.
