Soen's debut is a very mellow and melandcholic form of progessive metal / rock which is very similiar to the likes of Riverside and with some lovely subtle instrumentals especially from Martin Lopez from Opeth, gives the record a nice textured and flavor to the overall soundscape but biggest problem is that the album takes itself very slow with very few bursting moments which sometimes left me unsatisfied and with the influences too apparent it can be a bit distracting. Tool + Opeth + a bit of meshuggah
It has some bangers on it but I feel it could have been put together a little better
This is a truly excellent album, there were times throughout this where I was convinced it was Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth singing and that is probably the biggest compliment I could give. Overall it’s an amazing album, Soen is not talked about enough. My favourite song on this album is Purpose.
Wanted to check this out because I love Tool but I just don't think it really even compares - it's not bad, but it just feels a little underwhelming
Melancholic and weird are the best words to describe “Cognitive”. It’s a fun listen that’ll have you switching moods with every song change.
