For as jazzy and experimental as Atheist's Unquestionable Presence got, this album nearly makes that one sound straightforward in comparison. The vocoder clean vocals are a divisive choice but they give an interesting futuristic tone to this jazz kid's idea of death metal. The metal scene at the time didn't really know what to do with them so it flopped, they weren't prepared for this level of experimentation in their death metal, but I consider it a massive success. ... read more

CURSE YOU SHITTY PROD! Phenomenal ideas brilliantly played with some of the most enter the Wu tang 36 chambers ass production ive ever heard. WHYYYYYYYY?! I don’t think it helps that I listen to lateralus and the sound of perseverance 5 times a week, either (damn those albums sound so good). Definitely worth a listen if you can fight the mediocre sound quality. Would be like a 96 or something.

It seems they've diverged in a time of influential projects ... read more
