"Chinese Translation" and "Requiem" I've known about for ages but had never given the album a full listen. M Ward's trademark 1800s Americana atmosphere is all over this as usual. Some decent tracks on here but many don't quite hold a candle to Chinese Translation imo. Still a fun listen front to back.
Surprisingly a really consistent set of folk songs that really make me feel like I'm in the middle of a forest watching M. Ward perform. Some of the tracks sound so comforting but the lyrics really tell a completely different story, especially with the name of the album being Post-War and many tracks hinting about the subject.
