It's still not prime Rush we all know and love, but it's a significant improvement from the debut, with more interesting instrumentals and sing structures. It still feels redundant at times, after the title track it gets really boring. Important, even if not the greatest record.
Honestly the more I listen to this album the better and better it gets. While yes, we are still in a very different world to the prog we would be getting at 2112, this is such a step up from the debut in both experimenting and songs, and is a lot of fun
While missing the dumb fun that their debut had it more than makes up for it eith its musicianship specifically and obviously in the drums, I do think the songwriting can feel a little awkward at points given neil had just joined and the dumber songs do feel a little out of place on this one, this is album is still obviously a very good time and definitely an improvement from their debut
