In contrast to the popular resurgence of psychedelically minded rock music right now, Goat are making true, sludged up psychedelia that seems to come from a new, specially cultivated brain-lobe.
Compared to its predecessor, the production is snappier and helps lift the veil on their righteous noise. What lies beneath is frequently glorious, especially in the second half
Boring is a word that does not come into Goat’s repertoire, and experimentation is the constant driving force.
The ingenious part of Goat's act is that they've looped those artists' sounds back into drone-rock, expanding the range of tones and rhythms that most of the bands in Spacemen 3's wake have wielded at their disposal.
It feels like the clearest expression yet of who they are, connected inexorably to the past, yet pointing towards a future in which music of all tribes and tongues is united.

Amazing follow-up album harnessing similar themes and expanding upon them, maintaining the 70's inspirations. Some of this retreads old ground a little too closely, such as in "The Light Within" having the same riff as "Goatman" from the prior album, but I can also see it as a reference, and the song goes so hard that I hardly mind. Hardly surprising that this Swedish collective would so name their second release, and maintain their pan-cultural approach. Here they seem to have widened even further their experimentation with an almost universal blend of distinct regional influences and instrumentation, and not always to the benefit of the overall feel of the album.
