It lacks the timelessness that groups like Depeche were injecting into synthpop at the time but Johnny Marr and mr New Order do a solid job bringing their styles to the table on the debut Electronic album
Pretty much a new order album with Johnny marr. Glad that it still retains the quality of both sumner and marr.
Johnny Marr and the Pet Shop Boys guy compliment Bernard well here. A lot of rhythmic bleeps and boops here, kinda what you’d expect from an album named Electronic by a band named Electronic. Marr of course does show up with his guitar in some places, usually a nice change in pace.
The strings are also a highlight in multiple songs, but particularly in the ending of Some Distant Memory… there’s also like a woodwind-thing in there? (Apparently an oboe) it’s beautiful ... read more
