Entertainment Weekly
With these masterfully crafted new tracks, they're ready for battle.
70
PopMatters

At this point it seems fair to say N*E*R*D may never deliver on their once-extraordinary potential, but if they can keep churning out statements as distinct as Nothing, both the band and their listeners should be more than satisfied.

RapReviews.com

If you’re not looking for an album that will change the world, but simply change your mood for an hour or two, there’s definitely something to be said for “Nothing.”

70
No Ripcord
A level of self-awareness and concern for the world outside themselves hasn’t always been N.E.R.D.’s thing. This album does its best to give certain fans exactly what they want in sexually-driven club grinders while offering up real, honest-to-goodness substance.
70
HipHopDX

Nothing takes on more of a Rap Psychadelic approach, a combination of Woodstock and Hoodshock.

66
Billboard
At 36 minutes, the set is quick, generally uptempo and full of the Neptunes' mixtape-ready bangers, yet Williams finds his groove during moments that won't rattle any trunks.

musicOMH
Not a bad effort, but we've come to expect more.
60
Q Magazine

It still has its winning moments.

60
The Sydney Morning Herald

If ever you needed a lesson about the fickle — and cyclical — nature of contemporary pop music, you need look no further than one Pharrell Williams and his production group the Neptunes.

60
NOW Magazine
The album is overly long, but there’s a straightforwardness to the live-and-loose party vibe that’s hard to resist.
60
Consequence of Sound
In the end, it may not be all that risky or groundbreaking, but it is something, if not a new direction for N.E.R.D and one, ultimately, worth listening to.
60
SPIN

Like N*E*R*D’s three previous albums, Nothing collects all the zany ideas that Williams and his Neptunes partner, Chad Hugo, couldn’t convince their production clients to try.

60
NME
Pharrell - hateful but, fortunately, pretty talented.
60
AllMusic
Once again, N.E.R.D. are at their best when they abandon all regard for the Hot 100.
50
A.V. Club
Pharrell Williams’ come-ons do not improve with age—theirs or his.
41
Pitchfork

There isn't a lot left on Nothing, apart from these faint reminders, to indicate that these two guys were the same pair who once revolutionized the sound of hip-hop.

40
The Irish Times
There’s really very little that sticks to your ears and, worse, nothing which sounds inspired or groundbreaking.

No one is going to complain – the Neptunes still put out a killer track now and then, and singles like “Hot-N-Fun” are going to keep N.E.R.D. relevant for years, at least in the clubs. It’s just a shame that a band that could be so much more now gives us Nothing.

It feels like they didn’t even try.

Pharrell brought out jungle vibe this time, perfectly fits the cover artwork. Somehow it didn't work too well, some of these tracks are just tap water music
