There is a brilliant lightness to these songs -- nothing ever feels too thought-out. While this doesn't lend a ton of depth to the album, with the members of Echosmith barely in their twenties and lead singer Sydney just sixteen, it only seems logical to assume that there's room for growth. And based on Talking Dreams, that growth will be a pleasure to witness.
You sense there’s more to come, but for now Talking Dreams is catchy but characterless.
Echosmith wear their post-punk and new wave influences on their sleeve on Talking Dreams - the results are surprisingly decent, even if the lyrical content is rather generic. The big single from this album “Cool Kids” was a song that really spoke to me as an awkward teenager, but being in my twenties now, I don’t have much use for it anymore.
Highlights: Come Together, March Into The Sun, Bright, Talking Dreams, Safest Place
Cool Kids is like the only memorable song off this album. Everything else is kinda whatever
these are those albums where you just know there isn't anything worthy past the first songs
