I think “Foiled” by Blue October has a genuinely decent first few tracks, but soon enough the album’s main issue rears it’s head. This album sort of goes into a post-grunge bent and leaves me confused, I think the experimentation within the album clashes with the good enough pacing. This is a great record. 2000s alternative music has a lot to thank from this band.
Whether it's artsy post-grunge ("You Make Me Smile, "What If We Could"), lush violin and piano rock "It's Just Me", "18th Floor Balcony", "Hate Me"), synth-pop ("X Amount Of Words", Into The Ocean"), or heavy riff infused industrial rock ("Drilled a Wire Through My Cheek") - these guys do not disappoint.
