"Black" begins the record, a conversational fade in, a cacophony of Hell perhaps. The drums shuffle in nicely, sharp heavy riffing follows. Nasty basswork underneath of course. The speed and aura is vicious, subtle groove as it progresses, easy to move with.

Sadus, once again, teeters on the tightrope between tech thrash and death, however falls on the tech thrash side in many fans eyes. Much of Swallowed in Black employs the same speed and techniques used in “Illusions”, however with the introduction of an even more prominent bass, Sadus seems to find a mix between their original material and implement some ideas from Atheist’s books. This is the album that's been on my waiting list the longest. About 10 years. I think this is the heaviest thrash LP I've ever heard. It doesn't let up. Pure thunderous speed. And the best part? They don't repeat riffs ad nauseam. There's a collection of riffs that keep the album from becoming repetitive, along with excellent percussion work. You don't get bored listening to it.
