"Trespassing" continues the work of the underrated "For Your Entertainment" and allows the singer to keep unveiling his character in broad, colorful strokes.

AllMusic

Even if these songs never grace the charts, they sound like inevitable hits and prove that Lambert is a genuine pop star who has now left American Idol far behind.

Rolling Stone

Trespassing delivers, with a mix of tinsel disco-club sleaze and leather-boy love ballads.

Slant Magazine

Trespassing marks a strutting step forward for Lambert.

Entertainment Weekly

Trespassing's first half is a study in fabulosity ... Too bad the ballad-heavy second half is so laughably over-the-top.

The Guardian
If few of the songs are classics, his octave-leaping voice is often a showstopper.

The Observer

Trespassing isn't a totally cogent statement. Lambert suffers from a lack of restraint, while the second half of the album lags. But you have to admire Lambert's ability to go over the top and then ratchet higher still.

PopMatters
For all their talk of trespass and release and lock-popping, Glambert's songs unleash very little Glambert.

Q Magazine

Trespassing is magnificent in its competence, but sadly, it doesn't appear to have an actual beating heart in it anywhere.

Trespassing is a confused album, running trough different music genres without making any connection between them, where Lambert's vocals aren't able to save the whole ship by the end of the day.

Less of a bold swing than you'd expect from Idol's glam rocker, but still a decent dance/EDM album IMO. There are splashes of creativity, and I think the style overall is okay for him. Yes, I'd prefer harder rock from Adam, but I'm trekking through some EDM era records and eh, that's what was big at the time. Honestly enjoyed this a little more than I remember from when it came out.

Generic pop music. Adam's style of singing comes of as either obnoxious or boring. His lyrics are all bland, cliche and meaningless. It's about what you would expect from someone whose claim to fame is being a runner up on Idols.

Best Track: Outlaws of Love
Worst Track: Underneath

A suprising step up from his debut! I enjoyed this more than I expected, this is some pretty good pop for the most part. The ballad songs were my least favourite off the last album so I'm disappointed to see the second half of this album is dominated by them (although I did find them more interesting than the ones on his debut). The first half though is full of some absolute banging songs which almost make up for that.

While the singles aren't as strong as For Your Entertainment, I ... read more

His second album takes a dance-pop and party approach mixed in with power ballads towards the second half. Trespassing is his most versatile and diverse sounding album.

Best Songs: Trespassing, Cuckoo, Shady, Never Close Our Eyes, Better Than I Know Myself, Underneath, Chokehold, Outlaws of Love (and Runnin’ from Deluxe)

Worst Song: Kickin’ In
