A dark trip into Robert's tortured soul.
The cure slowly has become one of my favorite bands from the 80's, if not THE favorite. I only heard one album from them so far, that being their magnum opus Disintegration, which is probably one of my favorite albums of all time, just raised the album's score to a 10 the other day. This project has been on my radar for a while now, and I listened to the opener "One Hundred Years" in the past, which is amazing, so the expectations were high. ... read more
I love this album! I love por… nvm
Possibly the most famous gothic rock band in the world, The Cure’s fourth album titled “Pornography” is a dark and ominous collection of songs. They venture into the experiences of Robert Smith, who used heavy drugs while making this album. Which makes the final product a tortured and muddy experience.
But even with it being muddy, it works extremely well for the atmosphere that The Cure brilliantly builds up here. With the dark and ... read more
Guys, I think I like pornography... The album I mean, yeah uhh... I don't wanna see questions in the comments about it...
Oh my god, KandZ gave 'Pornography' a 75??? Unfollowed!!!!!!!
Yeah if I had to be honest, comparing this to 'Disintegration' and their new 'Songs of a Lost World', this is decent, not great... Only decent, I see why so many people like it so much, but for me this was nothing special, and a tiny bit boring after a while, but hey, 75 is ... read more
At this point, The Cure is comfort music to me. I can't think of another band that's been as consistent as them for 40 years and still be as great as they've ever been. This album is just one of their several peaks, it doesn't beat Disintegration as my favorite, but it's as The Cure as The Cure can possibly get. Not particularly hooky or poppy compared to some of their other output at this time, but its relative inaccessibility works in its favor. This thing just ... read more

May 3rd. Pretty important day for me for two reasons. First, Polish Constitution Day May 3, really important day for all Poles. Second and personally more important, its my birthday. Also this year i turn 18. For this occasion i wrote (the day before) a review of album released on May 3rd.
The founding members of The Cure met eachother during their time in Notre Dame Middle School in Crawley. At first five friends former Malice, band that covered many David ... read more
The Cure have always alluded to a more depressing and sad world in their past records, but it's here in Pornography where we fully see that world. And my God is it a interesting world to explore. The music here is dark. The lyrics here are dark. The album, the band, the entire feeling of this wonderfully depressing and insanely sad experience is dark. And it's probably one of the more eye opening and best music listening experiences that I've had in a long time.

While Disintegration is great, this record feels so much more gothic, heavier, and just more emotional. This album comes extremely strong with raw lyricism and just vocal melodies that really stick out in my mind and stay with me even after the album is over
My favorite Cure Abum. It's the band at their most depressing and nihilistic, cold and bleak. The drums add a lot to the experience. Tribal rythms repeated to an abrassive extent, and feel cold and almost mechanical. There are a lot of very touching melodies in the synth and guitar work, but many of these feel distant or concealed in the reverbed haze, and won't present themselves immediately, further making the album intruiging to explore outside of the heavy atmosphere. The sound ... read more
It isn’t the pain that irks, it’s the persistent dullness, and that makes this Cure far worse than the disease.

WHEN THE DARKNESS SURROUNDS EVERYTHING
Here we have another very old recommendation from MY GOAT OF GOATS @Farmer Dean, who recommended to me a long time ago, one of the darkest albums of all time, Pornography by The Cure. This album was listened by me for the first time when i was chilling in a beautiful trip, so this kinda set my mood down a little bit with its coldness, but i still enjoyed a lot of this iconic sound.
The tracks are super atmospheric ... read more
I felt the instrumentals more on this album in comparison to disintegration, great songs and atmosphere overall with some really high moments that got pretty weird and dark, and some that lost me a bit sadly, will come back to it though to see if grows cause it has the potential to do so!
I still think "Seventeen Seconds" is a better album, even though "Pornography" only makes me last "Seventeen Seconds".
Okay, I'm sorry. To all site mods and/or unsuspecting bypassers, that was an...innocent joke. We can move on now.
Even though this album has a bit of a reputation for being super dark and depressing and spooky, I still find The Cure's core sound to be pretty much intact with this album. Which means that either they were always ... read more
This album issa clasic. Some of the statement of gothic rock emerged thanks to this project.
Some of the Cure's classics came from this and being honest i really enjoy this album. There was no bad songs, all sound so refreshin and new for the time.
Back when The cure was the goat π₯²
freaky ahh album title π π on a serious note tho, i think that this or disintegration is the cure’s best album, some of their best and darkest songwriting is on this.

Non-masochists, abstain!!!!
"It doesn’t matter if we all die," the mystical questions of *Faith* found no answers, and this first line from *One Hundred Years*, which opens the album, seems to sound like a death knell. As indicated by the dark and fiery hues of the cover, The Cure has descended into hell. Gone are the mists, doubts, and melancholy, leaving only darkness and despair. The rhythms are faster, driven by rolls, giving them a slight tribal color; ... read more
As dark as it gets.
People loves to talk about the The Cure dark triogies, being the original one, the one containing Seventeen seconds, Faith and Pornography, and the Robert’s Smith dark trilogy containing Pornography, Disintegration and Bloodflowers.
The truth is Pornography has no other album to be paired with. They were not sounding like this before it and they never sounded as dark as they sounded in Pornography again. Seventeen seconds and Faith were post punk records, ... read more

HALLOWEEN MONTH DAY 11
“Pornography” is my first experience listening to a Cure album, and it was honestly worth it. With “Songs of a Lost World” coming out in less than a month, I thought I would check this out to get a better understanding of The Cure’s sound, and from what I hear on this album, I love it. Seriously, I think I can proudly say that I love “Pornography”. With this being The Cure’s 4th studio ... read more
REVIEWING ALL OFFICIAL STUDIO ALBUMS BY THE CURE: ALBUM FOUR (PORNOGRAPHY)
Mother of god... this album put me through hell
If Faith was The Cure at their saddest and most pitiful state, this album is the band at their most suicidal.
This album is an all-out emotional assault right from the first few seconds of the opening track, "One Hundred Years". The opening line of the album "it doesn't matter if we all die" really does a great job of setting the tone for the ... read more
Defintely the darkest and the saddest record they've made up to that point. It was also easily their best output yet. Amazing stuff, there are so many fantastic songs on here, some of their best really. One Hundred Years, The Hanging Garden, Cold and most importantly A Strange Day which became one of my all time favourites recently. The instrumentation on that track is just godlike.
The record is perfect to listen to on rainy evenings/nights, especially in the autumn. It really elevates ... read more
I guess it's the perfect time to listen to this album now that November has rolled around
Such a cold, desolate sounding album. Robert's vocals also perfectly match this nihilistic sound that they nail really well. I mean it ain't a classic up there with 'Disintegration' for no reason. It's a textbook example of how to do Post-Punk / Gothic Rock, and will remain a staple in the genre. Even though this album is over 40 years old, it still sounds just as modern as ... read more
